Streaming options to help you dominate your week
By: J.J. Gosh @jjgosh
For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.
Another week, another success for Field of Streams. If you followed along, you were given a top-12 option at every single position. Led by Jameis Winston’s QB8 finish, Cameron Brate also finished in the top-12 at Tight End. Defense was a little bit more difficult this week. There wasn’t a top-5 selection given, but the Dallas Cowboys still finished tied for 9th at the DST position. Check out the chart below with last week’s results and this coming week’s picks.
1.) Derek Carr – 18% owned – vs Kansas City
Carr has been very inconsistent this year. He’ll likely bee inconsistent during the game this week, but the Raiders will likely be playing catchup, so the opportunities will be there.
2.) Case Keenum – 16% owned – @ Cincinnati
He’s made a few appearances on Field of Streams this year, some successful, and others not. This is an indictment on the Bengals defense, as they are easily the best possible matchup for opposing QB’s.
3.) Colt McCoy– 4% owned – @ Philadelphia
In his 1st start for the Redskins, McCoy forced the action like Alex Smith never did. It worked out well for him at times, but he also threw a few interceptions. Still, he scored over 20 fantasy points and gets a matchup against a depleted Eagles secondary.
1.) C.J. Uzomah – 26% owned vs Denver
C.J. has seen 22 targets over the last 3 games. Plenty of those came from backup QB Jeff Driskel who will be under center again this week. Without A.J. Green again, he could see more volume.
2.) Jonnu Smith – 20% owned – vs NY Jets
The volume isn’t necessarily there, but the explosive plays are. Smith has had 3 TD’s in the last 4 games. Give him a few chances and he could turn one into another long TD.
3.) Gerald Everett – 12% owned – @ Detroit
Without Cooper Kupp, Everett has seen a bump in playing time. Goff trusts him when it counts, catching 3 TD’s in the last 2 games. Catch a TD, and there’s a good chance you’ll be a top-12 Tight End for the week.
1.) Seattle Seahawks – 27% owned – vs San Francisco
In their last 4 games the Seahawks have 12 sacks and 4 turnovers. This week they get the 49ers who are the 7th best matchup for fantasy defenses.
2.) Miami Dolphins – 11% owned – vs Buffalo
The Dolphins have amassed 7 sacks and 8 turnovers in their last 3 games and they get a matchup with the Buffalo Bills who have shown they will present some opportunities for both.
3.) New York Jets – 11% owned – @ Tennessee
What are the odds the Titans have 2 decent offensive games in a row? They have proven to be the 5th best matchup for fantasy defenses. This is more of a bet against the Titans than it is a vote of confidence in the Jets.
