Streaming options to help you dominate your week
By: J.J. Gosh @jjgosh
For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.
Field of Streams – Week 14
Week 13 was full of ups and downs. Derek Carr, Seattle and New York DST’s all gave you quality weeks, while C.J. Uzomah, Jonnu Smith, and the Dolphins DST likely didn’t lose you the week. But then there’s Colt McCoy. Put in a good spot against an injury ravaged secondary, he goes and breaks his leg. Tight End remains an ugly position to stream, however you were provided with 2 options who shouldn’t have cost you a week. Check out last weeks results and this week’s streaming options for the 1st week of the fantasy playoffs!
1.) Derek Carr – 18% owned – vs Pittsburgh
Coming off a top-5 performance, Carr gets another potentially high scoring game when Big Ben and the Steelers come into town.
2.) Case Keenum – 20% owned – @ San Francisco
Keenum has appeared in this article many times this year, with plenty of good weeks and a few bad. This week they travel to San Francisco to play the 49ers who are the 8th best matchup for opposing Quarterbacks.
3.) Josh Allen – 5% owned – vs New York Jets
This is a very risk/reward pick as he has just as many games OVER 28 fantasy points as he does UNDER 10 fantasy points. His rushing ability should provide both a safe floor and a high ceiling.
1.) C.J. Uzomah – 26% owned @ LA Chargers
In the last 2 games with a backup QB, Uzomah has caught 11 of 18 targets. It’s only a matter of time before he finds the endzone again. With the bad defense they have, they could be chasing points.
2.) Jonnu Smith – 22% owned – vs Jacksonville
Jonnu has 3 TD’s in his last 5 games and is the epitome of the Tight End position this season. A Touchdown from your TE all but guarantees a top-12 finish.
3.) Jaylen Samuels – 10% owned – @ Oakland
With James Conner sitting out, Samuels should see extreme usage both as a pass-catching RB and a TE who is a red zone threat. He should be the top add in most leagues.
1.) Buffalo Bills – 30% owned – vs NY Jets
The Bills have the 3rd best matchup for DST’s against the New York Jets and have given you 9 sacks and 5 turnovers in their last 3 games. Fire them up confidently.
2.) Dallas Cowboys – 27% owned – vs Philadelphia
Dallas shocked the world when they beat New Orleans. Can they follow it up with a tough divisional matchup? Carson Wentz hasn’t always looked like his form last year, and if he’s off, the Cowboys will look to add to their 14 sacks and 8 turnovers in their last 5 games.
3.) NY Giants – 10% owned – @ Washington
The Giants are very close to a dumpster fire as an organization. But they found a way to pull off a win last week and get to go against Mark “Butt-Fumble” Sanchez this week. They’ll most certainly add to the 9 sacks, 7 turnovers, and 2 TD’s they’ve given you in their last 3 games.
