Streaming options to help you dominate your week
By: J.J. Gosh @jjgosh
For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.
Week 1 was an effective week for Field of Streams, successfully streaming a top-12 option at QB, TE, and DST. Below are the results from last week. You will find the details used for scoring at the end of the article, following my choices for this week’s streamers.
1.) Tyrod Taylor – 13% owned – @ New Orleans
Still just 13% owned, Taylor has a matchup against the Saints who let Ryan Fitzpatrick do whatever he wanted. A dual threat who may be in a shootout, fire up Taylor as your starter and feel good about it.
2.) Case Keenum – 26% owned – vs Oakland
Keenum had a wonderful game last week finishing as the QB5 and he gets a home matchup with the hapless Oakland Raiders. Without Khalil Mack, there isn’t much to fear here. Give Keenum another shot.
3.) Nick Foles – 6% owned – @ Tampa Bay
Drew Brees lit up Tampa for 41.56 points. Nick Foles is NOT Drew Brees but should still be able to produce against this defense.
1.) Ricky Seals-Jones – 29% owned @ LA Rams
Seals-Jones disappointed last week finishing outside the top-20 TE’s. With the Rams elite DB’s, the way to attach them is over the middle. Seals-Jones was on the field for over 90% of the Cardinals snaps, so better days are ahead for Seals-Jones.
2.) Jonnu Smith – 2% owned – vs Houston
Delanie Walker unfortunately is out for the year. Smith is a promising 2nd year player who should fill the void for the Titans over the middle of the field. The Texans gave up a line of 7/123/1 to Gronk last week.
3.) Vance McDonald – 14% owned – vs Kansas City
The Chiefs showed their vulnerability at LB by giving up plenty of points to the Chargers RB’s and TE’s including a 2pt Conversion to the age-less Antonio Gates. If healthy, McDonald could have a big day. If he misses another game, fill in Jesse James.
1.) Cincinnati Bengals – 11% owned – vs Baltimore
Thursday night games are notoriously ugly. Not much should change with Joe Flacco coming to town. Scoring 11 fantasy points last week against Andrew Luck, expect another solid performance from the Bengals DST.
2.) New York Jets – 3% owned – vs Miami
The Jets shocked a lot of people with 5 INT’s and 1 TD against Matt Stafford and company. This week they get the Dolphins at home. Consider them a safe play vs Ryan Tannehill.
3.) New York Giants – 6% owned – @ Dallas
The Panthers DST scored 14 fantasy points against the Cowboys last week. I expect the Giants pass rush to wreak a little havoc against the injured Dallas O-line.
