Field of Streams Week 4 Fantasy Football Streamers

By: J.J. Gosh @jjgosh

For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.

Week 3 was another solid week if you took my advice, giving you plenty of playable fantasy options. If you heeded my advice, you walked away with 2 QB1’s, 1 TE1, and 1 top-12 DST. Perhaps one of the easiest calls I’ll get to make was the red-hot Ryan FitzMAGIC going against the leaky Pittsburgh defense, but nonetheless he was fantasy’s QB3 on the week. See below for last weeks results followed by this week’s picks.

QB Player Points Pos. Rank
1 R. Fitzpatrick 38.14 3
2 B. Bortles 8.9 29
3 A. Dalton 23.08 12
TE Player Points Pos. Rank
1 A. Hooper 5.8 25
2 R. Seals-Jones 10 10
3 J. Butt 1.8 43
DST Player Points Pos. Rank
1 Cle. Browns 11 7
2 Dal. Cowboys 3 22
3 Miami Dolphins 6 15

1.) Joe Flacco – 14% owned – @ Pittsburgh

The Steelers have given up the 2nd most points to the QB position, including 38 to FitzMagic and company this past week. Flacco is not elite, but he may put up elite numbers against a struggling defense this week.

2.) Baker Mayfield – 13% owned – @ Oakland

The 1st overall pick in the draft put on a show last week when he was plugged in for an injured Tyrod Taylor and Baker-mania followed. He completed an amazing 17 of 23 for 200 yards in right around a half of football. With a full game against a bottom half defense, I’m excited to see what this kid can do.

3.) Ryan Tannehill – 9% owned – @ New England

The Dolphins have surprised most people with their decent play so far this year. No one more so than Ryan Tannehill, averaging over 20 fantasy points per game. New England isn’t an easy place to play, but Tannehill has played here many times before.

Tight End

1.) Ricky Seals-Jones – 22% owned vs Seattle

Finally cashing in on all the opportunity, Seals-Jones found the endzone last week. Against a depleted defense, with a Rookie QB who may rely on him, Seals-Jones is a good streaming option yet again.

2.) Charles Clay – 18% owned – @ Green Bay

The Packers are a middle of the road defense this year, but Josh Allen proved to be more competent than Nathan Peterman (shocking, I know). The Bills will likely be chasing points against Aaron Rodgers, so Allen may have to throw more than he did last week. Fire up Clay and hope he works his way into the endzone.

3.) Vance McDonald – 14% owned – vs Baltimore

Of course, the 1st time I did NOT stream a Steelers TE, McDonald stole Chris Conte’s soul on the way to a long TD catch. Baltimore is not an easy matchup, but McDonald is earning Ben Roethlisberger’s trust. I think he is a good bet to see 5+ targets this week, and we’ve seen what he can do with the ball in his hands.

Defense/Special Teams

1.) Green Bay Packers – 29% owned – vs Buffalo

The Packers will play host to a rookie QB making his 2nd career start in one of the more hostile environments in the NFL. Just an average defense, look for the crowd to play a big role in the disruption of Josh Allen and the Bills offense.

2.) Seattle Seahawks – 27% owned – @ Arizona

Yet another defense playing against a rookie QB, only Rosen draws his first start against Seattle. The Legion of Boom is no more, but the Hawks still have enough to wreak havoc on the league’s worst offense through 3 games.

3.) Atlanta Falcons – 26% owned – vs Cincinnati

The Bengals have proved to be more competent on offense than most predicted. I’m still waiting for the real Andy Dalton to show up. He’s due for one of his patented game with multiple INT’s, and what better place to throw them than with Vic Beasley and that Falcons pass rush in his lap.
