x3 Players to Avoid in Fantasy Football (2024)

As the 2024 fantasy football season approaches, managers are starting to get the itch to join another league. Everyone has their own favorite draft strategies to help win their leagues. While uncovering hidden gems and securing star players are essential, avoiding potential pitfalls is equally crucial. Some players, despite their name recognition and past performances, carry risks that could derail your fantasy football championship aspirations.

3 Players to Avoid in Fantasy Football

Today, we’ll highlight three players to avoid in your 2024 fantasy football draft, helping you navigate the complexities of the season with a more informed strategy. Continue reading or check out the video below to discover which players we’re potentially avoiding in fantasy football this year.

De’Von Achane RB Miami Dolphins

First up is the second-year running back for the Miami Dolphins, De’Von Achane. Coming off a very promising rookie campaign, the talented running back is looking like a very solid player who could have a very successful NFL career. He’s being drafted as the RB18 on FantasyPros ADP for 1/2 PPR leagues. That makes him the 38th player off the board and costs you roughly a 4th-round pick in your fantasy drafts.

Last year, Achane left two games due to injuries and played in 11 total games. He saw a 50% or higher snap share percentage in four games. Meanwhile, veteran Raheem Moster had a whopping 21 total touchdowns. Rookie Jaylen Wright is now in the mix for this backfield as he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Overall, the price tag might just be too high for Achane. Mostert could end up being a value once again, as he’s currently being drafted as the RB26 and 77th overall.

Justin Jefferson WR Minnesota Vikings

Yes, it’s tough to avoid a stud player like Justin Jefferson. However, the ADP is so high that you might consider fading him this year. Jefferson is currently the fifth player off the board in 1/2 PPR leagues on FantasyPros. That makes him the WR4 overall, and there are certainly rankings you’ll see this year with Jefferson as the WR1 overall, just because that’s who he is.

In three straight seasons, Jefferson has been in the top five fantasy points per game, and it wouldn’t be too shocking if he were up there again. However, it’s certainly concerning going from Kirk Cousins to the combination of Sam Darnold and rookie JJ McCarthy. Additionally, the Vikings added Aaron Jones which could indicate that they want to run more than in 2023. Last year, the Vikings threw the ball the fourth-most in the NFL. Now, they’re looking at arguably one of the worst quarterback rooms in the NFL.

Rachaad White RB Tampa Bay Buccaneers

One of the top breakout players from the 2023 season was certainly running back Rachaad White. He had a very solid 2023 season, finishing as the RB4 overall in PPR scoring and RB7 in 1/2 PPR scoring. However, he was more of a product of volume rather than efficiency. Notably, he finished the season with just 3.6 YPC and only ran for six rushing touchdowns.

White is certainly a talented pass-catching running back, there’s no denying that. However, he’s certainly not cheap at his current ADP on FantasyPros of RB12 and 36 overall. Keep in mind, the Buccaneers also added rookie Bucky Irving in Round 4 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Both players have a similar profile and can succeed in catching passes out of the backfield. Overall, the price is just a bit too high on White for me.
