Allen Robinson Traded To Steelers - Fantasy Outlook

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Los Angeles Rams have agreed to trade WR Allen Robinson and a seventh-round pick (No. 251) in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a seven-round pick (No. 234).

Fantasy Football Outlook: Per the deal’s language, the Rams will pay $10.25 million of Robinson’s salary this season while the Steelers agree to pay the remaining $5 million. The Rams also move up 17 spots in the seventh round of the upcoming NFL Draft. This trade is pending a physical that Robinson is scheduled to have on Wednesday.

With Diontae Johnson and George Pickens already on the roster, Robinson is set to start for the Steelers in three-wide sets. What this translates to from a fantasy football point of view remains to be seen. Robinson has popped at times in his career as a top-flight wideout. But at other times, he’s performed as one of the biggest busts in the game, notably, in each of the past two seasons, which were also injury-riddled.

The addition of Robinson adds a veteran presence to a fairly young Steelers offense led by Kenny Pickett. If this entire offense gels in Pickett’s year two in the NFL, it could surprise an AFC North that is loaded on paper. They’ll need to score points to keep up with the likes of the Bengals, Browns, and Ravens.

In fantasy football, Robinson is a late-round dart throw at best. Assume he is last in the wide receiver pecking order for targets behind Johnson and Pickens, who both already have an established connection with Pickett. Furthermore, you also have to consider both Pat Freiermuth and Najee Harris, who are also competing for opportunities in this now-crowded offense.
