The 2024 fantasy football season is quickly approaching. With it comes many questions regarding players and your fantasy teams. One situation that has yet to be resolved is the one that belongs to San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Will he remain with the Niners or will his contract demands ultimately have him traded?

We’ll dive into Aiyuk’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. We’ll explore his strengths, and areas of concern, and compare him to other elite quarterbacks in the league. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him early trading for him or trading him to another manager in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on whether Aiyuk can become a WR1 for the upcoming season.

WR Brandon Aiyuk Fantasy Value

Aiyuk is heading into his fifth season and had his best fantasy season last year. He finished as the WR14 with 75 receptions, 1,342 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. His ADP in a redraft league and coincidentally in a dynasty league is the same at WR14 according to the latest FantasyPros average draft position data

Fantasy Football Outlook

Last year Aiyuk had his best season as a pro and after seeing many of his receiver counterparts get paid this offseason (Justin Jefferson, Amon-Ra St. Brown), he is looking for a raise as well. He has one year left on his contract and is currently holding out and playing hardball with the Niners.

Regardless of Aiyuk’s contract situation, he is a receiver I am not looking to draft or acquire. Last year Aiyuk performed at an insanely efficient rate. 55 wide receivers had more red zone looks than Aiyuk (he had 4). With teammates like Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brock Purdy, and George Kittle, Aiyuk’s touchdowns will always be capped. He ranked 40th in targets with 105. Four receivers who had similar targets to Aiyuk averaged just over 900 yards. His yards per reception was high at 17.9. What does this all mean? Unless Aiyuk repeats his efficient play from last year, he is a player who is not worth his current ADP.

Dynasty Football Outlook

Right now, Aiyuk’s dynasty fantasy football ADP is WR14. As outlined above, I have doubts that Aiyuk will produce to the WR14 level. At 26 years of age, he is still young and entering his prime. More importantly, I wouldn’t actively be trying to acquire Aiyuk as you may not get full value in a trade for him with his current holdout situation. All things considered, I would take more of a wait-and-see approach with Aiyuk.

Conclusion

Aiyuk has too many factors working against him for me to draft him at his current WR14 ADP. Holding out is never a good thing and if Aiyuk misses a significant amount of training camps, reps with the first team, and preseason games it may cause him to start the season slowly.

Even if Aiyuk gets traded there is no guarantee that he will be going to a better situation. Pittsburgh? No, thank you. Washington? TBD with rookie Jayden Daniels. Ultimately, the odds of Aiyuk repeating last season’s hyper-efficient season are slim. For all these many reasons he is someone to avoid drafting at his current ADP.
