Scouting the Nation – Latest College Football Risers
R Mason Thomas EDGE Oklahoma
The Sooners had several talented defenders this year. However, none were as impressive as standout edge rusher, R Mason Thomas. He is following in the footsteps of NFL star Nik Bonitto and has the talent to reach similar heights.
Thomas is an explosive pass rusher with high-end foot speed and quickness. Notably, he can consistently get after the quarterback and has a pass rush plan that showed up a lot on film. His tape against Alabama and LSU to finish off the season was fantastic.
Ultimately, Thomas possesses the floor to be an impact rookie in the NFL. Additionally, he has the upside to be a premiere edge rusher at the next level. Whether it’s this year’s 2025 NFL Draft or in 2026, Thomas will be a coveted pass rusher early in the draft.
Domonique Orange DT Iowa State
A quality player who had a great 2023 season, Domonique Orange took a big leap this year. He dominated down the stretch, culminating in an excellent performance against Arizona State in the Conference Championship game.
Orange retooled his body this season and was quicker without losing his play strength. Impressively, he can get low and has a natural bend to get after the quarterback. The flashes he had lined up as a nose tackle were fantastic, and Orange can line up all over the defensive line. He can two-gap and doesn’t get moved in the run game, too. Orange projects as a starter early on in his NFL career.
