In this edition of Scouting the Nation, we take a look at the best performances from weeks 11 and 12 of the college football regular season. Let’s get right into it.

Scouting the Nation – Latest College Football Risers

Spencer Fano OT Utah

If Fano was draft-eligible, he’d be in contention to be the first offensive lineman drafted this year. A rare true freshman starter in 2023, Fano held his own as the blindside protector for the Utes. Transitioning to right tackle this season, Fano has displayed some of the best play strength in the nation. He consistently sustains blocks in the run game and can create a lot of displacement.

Furthermore, Fano is also effective as a puller and plays in control on the move. There isn’t a better run-blocking tackle in the country. Impressively, he even showed off his athleticism on a two-point conversion against Colorado. As a pass protector, Fano plays with good pad level and anchors very well on contact. Based on his growth in year two, Fano should come into his junior season as a projected All-American and top draft pick.

Cayden Lee WR Ole Miss

Speed and quickness are two traits that make Lee a mismatch weapon wherever he’s lined up on the field. His tape had been excellent all season, and then he dominated a very good Georgia defense. Lee can take the top off the defense, stop on a dime, and he does a good job of attacking leverages.

Moreover, with the ball in his hands, Lee can make defenders miss and erase angles. In the modern NFL, where separation is key, and teams are looking to move their players around the formation, Lee is going to thrive. He’s a dynamic weapon who is really hitting his stride in year two at the collegiate level.
