Scouting the Nation – Latest College Football Risers

Olaivavega Ioane OG Penn State

In terms of size and strength, it doesn’t get much better than Olaivavega Ioane. He looks the part of an NFL offensive lineman and can move defenders with ease. Penn State gets creative with how they use Ioane, in order to take advantage of their best blockers traits. He is such a powerful guard on the move and as a puller that several of those reps end in a pancake. Penn State has been producing top 100 offensive linemen as of late, and Ioane is going to go very high.

Furthermore, Ioane doesn’t need to declare this year. However, when he does, Ioane will be viewed as a day-one starting guard at the next level. Ultimately, there is legit Pro Bowl upside with Ioane.

Howard Sampson OT North Carolina

A North Texas transfer, Howard Sampson has significantly improved over the course of this season at North Carolina. At a listed 6’8” and 325 pounds, Sampson displays high-end foot quickness and length to match rushers in pass protection. He isn’t a waist bender, which is rare for a player of his size. There are a lot of flashes in the run game, where Sampson creates movement when working down the line or at the second level.

In his first real season as a starter, Sampson has shown that he can develop on the fly and utilize his tools. With another leap on tape next season, expect Sampson to be one of the best offensive linemen in the nation. With the way he’s playing as of late, he’s certainly one of the college football risers after Week 13.
