Derek Simmons OT Oklahoma
A Western Carolina transfer, Derek Simmons, is going to turn heads next fall. He is a natural knee bender who plays with excellent pad level in pass protection. Simmons has the feet to be an NFL left tackle, too. Watching him against NC State, he handled their pass rushers with ease. As a run blocker, Simmons can get out in space really well and does a good job of connecting with defenders at the second level.
Furthermore, what Simmons also showed on tape last season was versatility. He’s going to be able to play both sides, and his ability in the run game will allow him to play guard as well. Now at Oklahoma, he immediately steps in as their best offensive lineman. Additionally, he was a great get for a program looking to make a playoff run.
Ezomo Oratokhai OG Northwestern
It wasn’t until week 12 against Ohio State that Ezomo Oratokhai made his first start. However, it was easy to see that he was going to be a future star. Notably, the first thing that stands out about Oratokhai is his explosiveness. He gets out of his stance quickly. Overall, his foot speed and movement skills are great as well.
For starting his first game as a freshman, Oratokhai had zero problem matching the athleticism of the highly touted Ohio State defensive front. Additionally, he impressed against Michigan the next week. The traits and consistency Oratokhai had in limited playing time against two elite defenses show a player with the makings to be a really good pro prospect in a few years. Overall, Oratokhai is one of two CFB offensive linemen that you need to know for 2025 and beyond.
