Scouting the Nation – Two Great Offensive Linemen
Caleb Tiernan OT Northwestern
A candidate to be the top offensive tackle in the draft next year, Caleb Tiernan was phenomenal last season. His 2023 tape was very good, and then he took a massive leap in 2024, playing at an elite level all year. Specifically, it starts with his pass protection.
Tiernan has high-level foot quickness and does an excellent job of staying balanced in pass protection. Additionally, his agility allows him to handle inside counters. Furthermore, he has the anchor to stall rushers on contact.
Against Ohio State, Tiernan was lights out against two high draft picks. Impressively, the hand technique and body control were very consistent as well. All those traits showed up in the run game, where he displayed great power and the movement skills to be effective in space. Overall, it doesn’t take long when watching Tiernan to realize he’s a future first-round pick. He has the talent to be OT1 and a top 15 pick next year.
Davin Stoffel TE Illinois
An in-line tight end, Davin Stoffel, really flashed on his redshirt freshman tape at South Dakota State. He is already one of the best blocking tight ends in the country, showing off impressive play strength and the ability to finish. Additionally, he is fluid for his size. Finally, Stoffel is explosive as a pass catcher as well.
Ultimately, it is rare to find such a Pro-ready tight end at such a young age. In the end, this is why Stoffel could quickly emerge as a top tight end in the country. He’s going to be a very early draft pick whenever he declares. All in all, Stoffel has the talent to be a special prospect for 2025 and beyond.
