RB Derrick Henry Fantasy Football Outlook
All Henry does, is produce for fantasy teams. In the last six years, he has rushed for at least 10 touchdowns. Including a shortened 2021 season where he missed the last ten games of the season. Along with scoring double-digit touchdowns, Henry has also rushed for over 1,000 yards in five of his last six seasons.
Henry led all running backs last year with 280 rushing attempts and was second in rushing yards. Behind a terrible offensive line and mediocre quarterback play, Henry managed to finish as the RB10 and totaled almost 1,400 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Derrick Henry Fantasy Football Outlook
As a Cowboys fan, I would have loved to see Henry sign with Dallas. Once the 30-year-old hit free agency, his destiny seemed to always be connected with the Baltimore Ravens.
Henry did post his lowest yards per carry in his career at 4.17. He had weekly fantasy scores of 2, 3, 5.4, 5, and 4.2 in Week 17 when most fantasy leagues have their championship game. It wasn’t all rosy with Henry, but this was probably more due to the horrendous offensive line and game script at times, when the Ravens were behind and preferred to deploy Tyjae Spears. Neither of those issues will arise in Baltimore.
The Ravens have such a good run offense, that it made 28-year-old plodder Gus Edwards, a top 24 running back. Edwards rushed for 810 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Henry will undoubtedly be the workhorse back for the Ravens this year. Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell, and rookie Rasheen Ali don’t pose any meaningful threat to Henry’s touches.
Unless Henry suffers an injury, double-digit touchdowns and an RB1 season seem to be on the horizon
Dynasty Football Outlook
Henry will be turning 31 years of age this season. His dynasty fantasy football ADP is RB20, which to be honest, is rather high for a 30-year-old running back. Clearly, Henry is no regular aging back and may have one to two years left in him of decent production.
Ultimately, Henry is an ideal running back to trade for if you are in contention this year. The cost to acquire Henry will not be that expensive. However, he could be the last piece that propels you to a championship.
Conclusion
Simply put, the Ravens and Derrick Henry are a match made in heaven. Playing behind a much better offensive line and with a running quarterback like Lamar Jackson should open up holes and touchdown opportunities that Henry has only dreamt of. His ADP of RB9 may prove to be a value when all is said and done.
Father time is undefeated and he will eventually come for Henry. Just maybe not this year.
