Derrick Henry Trade Rumors & Landing Spots – Fantasy Outlook
Jason LaCanfora of the Washington Post is reporting that the Tennesee Titans are open to trading veteran running back Derrick Henry.
Fantasy Football Outlook: Pro Football Talk initially reported that the Titans were open to dealing Henry ahead of NFL Free Agency. And although Henry remains with the team, there is a lot of offseason to go for a deal to be made.
The Titans are in a rebuild. It began last off-season when the team traded A.J. Brown. This offseason, new GM Ran Carthon moved off veteran talents like Robert Woods and Taylor Lewan, further suggesting that a rebuild was imminent.
In addition to Henry, who is 29, the Titans are also reportedly open to shopping quarterback Ryan Tannehill. If the Titans are in a tank for Caleb Williams situation, veterans like Henry and Tannehill only help the team win more games, not the other way around. It also makes sense for the team to move off hefty contracts as well.
When it comes to top landing spots for Henry, win-now teams like the Bills and Cowboys make sense. The Bills signed Damien Harris in free agency, but they aren’t exactly a great running team. Henry could put them over the top while alleviating pressure off of Josh Allen.
For the Cowboys, this is the team that makes the most sense. The Cowboys moved on from Ezekiel Elliott. Outside of the franchise-tagged Tony Pollard who is coming off of an ankle injury, their running back room is thin. They only have Ronald Jones and Malik Davis otherwise.
Furthermore, the Cowboys must run the ball to make life easier for Dak Prescott. And though Pollard is explosive, what he brings to the table as an in-between-the-tackles runner, especially in short-yardage situations, remains a question.
If Henry ends up in Dallas, he is a sure-fire top-five running back in all fantasy football formats despite his age.
