De’Von Achane 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook – Top 10 Upside?

0

As the 2024 fantasy football season approaches, De’Von Achane is one of the most intriguing running backs in all of the NFL. In 2023, Achane took the league by storm, showing elite burst and big-play potential. This was evident in full force in Week 3 when Achane exploded for 51.3 fantasy points in a blowout win against the Denver Broncos.

Unfortunately, the injury bug was something Achane could not avoid in 2023. He missed six games due to injury last season and left early in several others. Coming into the NFL, Achane was ridiculed for his height and weight. Standing at 5’9 and weighing 188 pounds, he is not the size of a typical NFL running back. This leads to the question, will Achane be able to be an elite fantasy asset at his size?

In this article, we delve into Achane’s 2024 fantasy football outlook, analyzing his past performances, current team dynamics, and prospects for the upcoming season. We’ll examine his strengths, weaknesses, and how he compares to other running backs. Whether you’re considering drafting him as your workhorse running back or acquiring him in your dynasty fantasy football leagues, this comprehensive analysis will help you decide if Achane is an asset you can rely on in 2024 and beyond.

RB D’Von Achane Fantasy Football Outlook

Achane enters his second NFL season in 2024 after being drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the 84th pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Coming out of Texas A&M, Achane was overlooked because of his below-average size. Most NFL general managers want their running backs to weigh over 200 pounds, but luckily Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel ignored those concerns.

The Miami Dolphins, led by head coach McDaniel, love to utilize players with elite speed. Achane fit that mold perfectly, running a 4.32 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine. Achane’s elite athleticism showed in 2023 when he averaged 7.4 yards per rush attempt. Notably, this was over two yards more than Jaylen Warren, who was second in the league with 5.2 yards per rush attempt.

All in all, if Achane can stay on the field, there is no question he is one of the most explosive players in the league.

2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Heading into 2024, Achane is valued as RB10 overall, typically drafted in the middle of the third round of 2024 fantasy football leagues. Achane has the most upside of any running back in the NFL, making his third-round ADP very appealing to drafters. His 7.4 yards per carry shows how significant his upside could be.

Along with his massive yards per carry, Achane scored 11 touchdowns in only 11 games. This came alongside fellow running back Raheem Mostert, who scored a whopping 21 touchdowns in 2023. If some of those touchdowns can come Achane’s way, the NFL needs to watch out!

Dynasty Football Outlook

In dynasty fantasy football leagues, Achane ranks as RB6 according to Keep Trade Cut‘s crowdsourced rankings. This ranking shows the fantasy community’s optimism about his potential. This seems like the perfect place for Achane at this point in his career. While his upside is immense, there is no denying his considerable injury risk.

Furthermore, Christian McCaffrey, Bijan Robinson, Breece Hall, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Jonathan Taylor are the five running backs ranked ahead of Achane. The RB6 ranking makes perfect sense, as he has not shown the ability that these five running backs have.

While Achane is not quite a top-five dynasty running back, he is still someone to target. Some managers might feel queasy about Achane’s injury concerns. Go out and see how your managers feel about Achane; his price might be cheaper than you think!

Conclusion

Overall, Achane presents a risky investment with some insanely high upside. He is one of the few players with the potential to be the number one player at his position. Ideally, drafting Achane might be best paired with an elite RB1 like Bijan Robinson or Breece Hall. However, having him as your RB1 might be more risky than it is worth.
