DFS Stacks: Week 2 Winners

0

Every NFL DFS main slate for the remainder of the season is going to be absolutely loaded with strong plays across the salary spectrum. If you are building lineups for tournaments, GPPs, or large contests, it is absolutely imperative that you practice the art of stacking. Whether it’s a game stack or pure team stack, having multiple pieces of the most fantasy-friendly games on the slate is the way to separate you from the pack and push your roster to the top. Here are my favorite stacks to target this week in DFS Stacks: Week 2 Winners.

With that in mind, here are some of the top stacks for the Week 1 main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.  I will also throw in a contrarian option for each stack in case these plays prove to be too chalky. So fire up your Soulja Boy, because we’re about to dive into some stacks on stacks on stacks.

Dak Prescott + CeeDee Lamb/Amari Cooper + Keenan Allen

Welcome to the most popular game to stack on the slate, BY FAR. The total of this Cowboys-Chargers tilt is pushing 55 in some places, and both teams look primed to soar past their totals after impressive offensive showings in Week 1.

While the defenses certainly will help turn this into a carnival of points, this contest is mostly about the pace of play. In their regulation games last week, the Cowboys ran 77 offensive plays (5th in the NFL) and the chargers ran 78 (4th). If you want some context, both teams ran more plays than the Bengals and Vikings who played seven minutes of extra football. Need more? Dallas and Los Angeles were both top-12 in seconds per play, and both were top-eight in pass rate in Week 1.

With Michael Gallup now on IR, the Dallas offense will be even more funneled to the two stud wide receivers. Basically, flip a coin and hope you land on the side with more fantasy points, but you can’t go wrong. Both had at least 15 targets last week. While Mike “Don’t Call Me Thomas” Williams had a breakout game in terms of targets and involvement last week, Allen remains the most consistent pass-catcher for DFS purposes. And even though Williams got all the publicity after the game against Washington, Allen is flying under the radar with his 13 targets and 100 receiving yards. His game is built for the DraftKings format.

Allen is underpriced on both sites ($7,000/$7,400) for this matchup with an extremely giving Cowboys secondary.

Contrarian Stack: Justin Herbert-Mike Williams/Austin Ekeler-Ezekiel Elliott

Kyler Murray + DeAndre Hopkins + Adam Thielen

You think Dak Prescott’s game was impressive? We were all holding Kyler Murray’s beer while he preceded to throw for 289 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 20 more yards plus another score. Two of his scores were to Hopkins which is going to be a recurring theme throughout this season, I’m afraid.

Unless the 1985 Bears or 2000 Ravens start showing up on the Cardinals’ schedule, we are going to want to stack Murray with his skill players all year. The only other piece of advice I can give you is to play Murray before his salary starts getting into silly price level. He is already $8,200 on DraftKings and $8,700 on FanDuel and might start pushing $9,000 before too long. We can try to get cute and play Chase Edmonds or Christian Kirk, but let’s stick with what works in single-entry or three-max tournaments.

After about half of the Vikings-Bengals game last week, it became clear that reports of Thielen’s demise were greatly exaggerated. With Irv Smith on the shelf, Thielen is still the preferred target for this team, including in the red zone. He was sixth among all wide receivers with 14 targets including multiple looks when his team was inside the 25-yard line.

Contrarian Stack: Dalvin Cook + Kyler Murray + Rondale Moore/Chase Edmonds

Tom Brady + Antonio Brown/Mike Evans + Calvin Ridley

I originally thought Chris Godwin would make the best Brady stacking partner for this matchup against the Falcons. But then I discovered an interesting statistic from the Falcons-Eagles game last week. The Falcons allowed four different Eagles to have at least 10 yards per reception last week and also allowed a pass of at least 10 yards to five different players. Teams can certainly air it out against Atlanta.

This Falcons’ secondary might be worse than they were predicted to be this year, and that means plenty of downfield shots to Brown and Evans for Brady this week. Coach Bruce Arians came out this week and said all of Leonard Fournette, Ronald Jones, and Giovani Bernard are starters. LOL. Ok, Bruce. You actually have zero starting running backs which is why we will stack this passing machine any chance we can.

Calvin Ridley certainly disappointed a lot of people last week, but if that ticks down his roster percentage any, I am here for it. The Cowboys passing attack ate the Bucs alive last week, and I am willing to guarantee Ridley will have more than the five catches, 51 receiving yards, and 92 air yards he saw in Week 1.

Contrarian Stack: Matt Ryan + Kyle Pitts + Chris Godwin

Najee Harris + PIT Defense + Darren Waller

Neither Harris nor the Steelers defense really had standout performances last week despite the under-the-hood numbers looking good. Harris played in 100% of the snaps against the Bills and ranked first among all running backs in opportunity share (rushes plus targets). The Pittsburgh defense held the Bills to 10 points through three quarters and held them to the ninth-lowest quarterback rating in the league last week.

This week, the Steelers face a much less intimidating offense when they host the Raiders, so the correlation between Harris and a dominant Pittsburgh defense should be strong. The Steelers are 6.5-point home favorites which doesn’t factor in the Raiders being on a short week traveling across the country.

The Raiders’ offense are exactly who we thought they were when we saw Waller get 19 targets on Monday Night Football (which was the third-most targets ever for a tight end). With no Travis Kelce, TJ Hockenson, Mark Andrews, or Logan Thomas on this slate, Waller is the guy if you want an elite tight end. He only saw a $100 salary increase on DraftKings and he IS the Raiders’ passing attack.

Contrarian Stack: Derek Carr + Bryan Edwards + Chase Claypool (FD)/Diontae Johnson (DK)

Other Interesting Stacks

Jameis Winston + Alvin Kamara/Adam Trautman + Christian McCaffrey – Stacking the two best running backs on the slate only works because Jameis Winston is the 12th-most expensive quarterback on DraftKings. It’s not as appealing on FanDuel where he comes in with the seventh-highest salary. We just saw the Panthers defense give up 19 fantasy points to Zach Wilson in his first NFL game, so Winston should be able to pick them apart even with a motley crew of receivers.

Matthew Stafford + Cooper Kupp + Michael Pittman – The Michael Pittman bring-back really hurt everyone last week when they stacked him with Russell Wilson and his wide receivers. I’m not chasing Zach Pascal and will instead follow the better talent in a game where the Rams are sure to jump out ahead quickly. Kupp continued to do his thing last week with 10 targets, seven catches, a touchdown, and top-six numbers in yards after the catch among all wide receivers.

Nick Chubb + CLE Defense + Brandin Cooks – With the Browns gargantuan 12.5-point favorites in this one, no one is giving the Texans much of a chance. But if the game script holds true to this spread, the Browns are projected to score 30 points and should be running the ball for much of the second half. Cooks is the only reliable receiver on the Texans and will continue to see 25%+ of the target share and air yards share.
