The season is winding down as we head into Week 17 with only two weeks to go in the 2023 regular season. The season may be winding down but the playoff race is heating up with 24 teams remaining in playoff contention. This week we get a huge slate for DraftKings main contests loaded with 13 games. Let’s take a look at a quick recap from last week’s picks followed by some studs and values for Week 17.

Week 16 DraftKings DFS Cash Game Picks – Recap

Smash

Justin Jefferson returned to form scoring 29.10 fantasy points finishing as the WR3.

Tommy Tremble was a good value scoring a season-high 9.9 fantasy points.

Nick Mullens finished as the QB5 scoring 23.54 fantasy points and finishing with over 400 passing yards.

Duds

De’Von Achane was very disappointing finishing with only 4.10 fantasy points.

Trevor Lawrence struggles and injuries continued as he turned the ball over three times, left the game early, and only scored 12.34 fantasy points.

Parker Washington finished with only 3.90 fantasy points and was outgained by several Jacksonville Jaguars players who were below him on the depth chart.

Week 17 DraftKings DFS Cash Game Picks

Quarterbacks

Brock Purdy ($7,000)

Purdy had by far his worst game of the season Monday night. He threw four interceptions and zero touchdowns before leaving the game with an injury. However, this week is a prime bounce-back spot for Purdy. This week, his opponent is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum compared to the Baltimore Ravens elite defense. Purdy will face a Washington Commanders defense this week, who are the worst in the NFL against quarterbacks. Look for Purdy to have a big game and put himself back into the MVP conversation.

Jarrett Stidham ($4,800)

I never would have thought Russell Wilson would get benched for Stidham this season. However, the Denver Broncos decided to not risk an injury and despite being in the middle of a playoff race they benched their best offensive player. That puts Stidham in the same spot he was last year when the Las Vegas Raiders benched Derek Carr. In those two games that Stidham started last year for the Raiders he threw for over 500 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 84 yards on the ground which gives him a good boost for fantasy.

This week, he will face a bad Los Angeles Chargers defense and Sean Payton will be able to run the offense more to his liking with Stidham under center. Look for Stidham to be a great value play at a very very cheap price this week.

Running Backs

D’Andre Swift ($6,500)

Swift has continued to impress this season and is now on the verge of his first 1000-yard rushing season. This week, he will get to the 1000-yard mark needing only 12 yards against a very bad Arizona Cardinals rush defense. Moreover, Swift has the potential to put up a monster stat line this week and get into the triple-digit rushing yards for the first time since week three. Especially, considering the Philadelphia Eagles are double-digit favorites. Look for a heavy dose of the rushing attack especially in the second half resulting in a huge game for Swift.

Najee Harris ($5,000)

It’s another must-win game for the Pittsburgh Steelers this week if they want any hope of making the playoffs. Harris looked much better last week after a very lackluster performance against the Indianapolis Colts two weeks ago. This week, he will face a Seattle Seahawks defense, who have been susceptible on the ground this season. The Seahawks have allowed 15 rushing touchdowns to running backs, which is tied for 2nd most in the NFL. Furthermore, with the game being played in Seattle, the Steelers are going to need to control the game with their rushing attack. That puts Najee in a good spot at an excellent salary this week.

Wide Receivers

Rashee Rice ($6,900)

Rice has taken over as the number one target for the Kansas City Chiefs. He has seen more targets than Travis Kelce or any other Chiefs player in each of the last five games. The Chiefs offense has been sputtering of late and overall, they are just 2-4 in their last six games. However, Rice has still managed to average 19.42 DraftKings points since week 12. Look for Rice to continue to stay hot and be among the highest fantasy wide receivers this week.

Andrei Iosivas ($3,200)

This pick is going to heavily depend on the availability of Ja’Marr Chase. If Chase is going to play, then swap Iosivas out of your lineup. However, it is looking like Chase will be out so Iosivas should get another bump in playing time. Last week against Pittsburgh, Iosivas saw a season-high eight targets turning four of those into receptions for 36 receiving yards. This week against the Chiefs in Arrowhead, the Bengals will likely have to play from behind and throw a bunch. More importantly, Iosivas will see one-on-one opportunities with a lot of the focus going towards Tee Higgins. Look for Iosivas to be one of the best values on this week’s slate.

Tight Ends

George Kittle ($5,600)

Despite the offensive struggles last week, Kittle had a huge game catching seven passes for 126 yards. Throughout Kittle’s career, he tends to play his best football in December. He has played 28 career games in December and he averages 81.6 receiving yards in those contests. This week, he faces the Washington Commanders, who have been solid against tight ends this season but Kittle is one of the few elite tight ends they have faced all year. Look for Kittle to continue to find success in the month of December and have a great game.

Durham Smythe ($2,900)

Smythe has yet to score a touchdown this season, so this pick may seem a little crazy. However, he just had a season-high 56 receiving yards, and similar to Tommy Tremble last week, he’s trending in the right direction. Furthermore, Smythe saw a 24% target share per route run in last week’s matchup. On the season, he was only at 13%, and over the last six weeks, he has seen a solid increase of 4%. The Ravens defense has been very good against wide receivers and running backs this season. Therefore, the Dolphins will need to get Smythe involved resulting in Smythe being a great value play.

Defense / Special Teams

Seattle Seahawks ($3,700)

Mason Rudolph might have channeled his inner Rudolph and saved the Steelers playoff hopes just as Rudolph saved Christmas. However, now he has to head into Seattle to face the Seahawks defense who have played very well the last two games. They sacked Ryan Tannehill six times last week and forced Jalen Hurts to throw two interceptions two weeks ago. The Seahawks should be able to force Rudolph into a turnover or two and get some pressure resulting in sacks and ultimately fantasy points.
