DraftKings DFS Picks for Super Bowl 58: Chiefs vs. 49ers

Super Bowl LVIII is officially here and this year’s matchup will bring us a rematch from the 2020 Super Bowl. This year, the San Francisco 49ers will take on the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. Andy Reid and the Chiefs are looking at back-to-back Super Bowl trophies as well as their third in just five seasons. Meanwhile, Kyle Shanahan is looking for his first Super Bowl with a loaded 49ers roster. This year’s matchup should be a good one now let’s take a look at the matchup from a DFS perspective.

DraftKings DFS Picks – Super Bowl LVIII

For this slate, we will switch things over to a single-game contest rather than the multi-game contests we played all season. The roster construction is a lot different with positions meaning nothing and ultimately only picking a total of six players. One of those six will need to be a captain who will receive 1.5x fantasy points. However, the captain spot costs 1.5x the salary as well.

To fill the rest of the roster out, you will select five flex players from the entire player pool kickers and defenses are included. For this article, I will provide some studs and values for both flex plays and captain plays. Let’s get right into it with my favorite DFS picks for the big game, Super Bowl LVIII.

DFS Captain Picks

Patrick Mahomes ($15,900)

There isn’t much explanation needed with this pick. Mahomes is already one of the best five quarterbacks in NFL History. This will already be the fourth Super Bowl he has played in despite only playing six seasons in the NFL. Moreover, for this matchup, the 49ers’ weakest link on the defense is their secondary. Mahomes will be able to exploit that as long as the protection holds up. Look for Mahomes to put up plenty of points in this matchup and be among the highest scorers on the slate.

George Kittle ($9,600)

Kittle wasn’t used much in the passing attack during the NFC Championship game two weeks ago. However, throughout the season, Kittle scored single-digit fantasy points seven times. Six of those times, he bounced back the following week to score double-digit points. Kittle should be a vital part of the 49ers game plan with the Chiefs cornerbacks playing very well heading into this matchup. Kittle has all the potential to be the highest fantasy-scoring player in this game. I’m pushing in all the chips on Kittle for this game. Look for him to find the end zone at least once just as he did in the 2020 Super Bowl.

Stud Flex Options

Rashee Rice ($7,600)

Rice has been a huge factor in the Chiefs’ offensive success this season. He finished his rookie season just shy of 1000 receiving yards and has continued to play great in the playoffs. Now he gets a great matchup against the 49ers secondary. Their secondary was tied for ninth worst in the NFL in receiving touchdowns allowed to wide receivers. Moreover, Rice is the only consistent receiver the Chiefs have. Look for Mahomes to go to him early and often in this matchup.

Brock Purdy ($10,000)

Purdy has had his doubters every step of the way this season. Surprisingly those doubters haven’t gone away despite Purdy heading into a Super Bowl appearance, while also finishing the regular season as one of five MVP candidates. While he has had his struggles in both playoff games thus far, he stepped up when he was needed the most leading his team to comeback victories in both games. More importantly, he has been one of the best value DFS quarterbacks this season and now I’ll call his number again for the Super Bowl. Look for Purdy to have another good performance and ultimately hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

Value DFS Captain Picks

Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($4,500)

MVS made perhaps the biggest play of the game two weeks ago against the Baltimore Ravens. More importantly, he saw the field at a high rate playing 87% of the snaps. Furthermore, he ran 37 routes which was more than he ran in the Chiefs’ first two playoff games combined. He will more than likely get a couple of deep shots throughout the game. All we need is for MVS to bring those in to provide us with some great value especially if you play him at captain. With MVS at captain that leaves you with plenty of roster flexibility to afford the big-name players in this game.

Value Flex Options

Kyle Juszczyk ($800)

When it comes to single-game slates and large tournaments to win the big prize you really need to differentiate your lineups. Juszczyk could provide some extreme value if he’s able to make something happen in this game. On the season he has 16 receptions for 152 yards. More importantly, he’s scored two touchdowns, which is what we are going to need on Sunday. When these teams met up in the 2020 Super Bowl, Juszczyk did just that bringing in three receptions one being for a touchdown. Let’s hope for a repeat performance from Juszczyk.

Harrison Butker ($5,000)

Kickers are a great way to find value in the small-player pool showdown contest. Typically, kickers are better in cash lineups because they have higher floors but low ceilings. However, in the bigger tournaments, they can still be valuable. Butker averaged 9.3 Draftking points this season and has been very accurate missing only two kicks all season. Furthermore, the 49ers despite being third-best in the NFL in PPG allowed, surrendered 29 field goals during the season which was tied for the 21st most. Look for Butker to kick a couple of field goals in this game hopefully at least one from 50 yards or more.
