DraftKings-Week-6-Bargain-Plays-and-DFS-Values

Week 6 is here and we have four teams on bye in the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders, and the Tennessee Titans leaving us 11 games on the main slate. Losing big names from the Monday night game Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams,  along with losing Derrick Henry and stand-out rookie Dameon Pierce. The Detroit Lions, on the other hand, need this week off and it showed in their Week 5’s performance.

Anyway, we have a fun and exciting week of DFS for you! It’s a balanced week after I looked over the positions and some names you will see repeated from the previous week. One player I think will be “chalk” is Kenneth Walker ($5,400). Rashaad Penny is out for the remainder of the 2022 season with a broken fibula and a high ankle sprain. This guy has been hit with the injury bug in every season of his career and we have never had a full season of Penny. It’s Walker’s backfield now and we know how this offense is moving.

Before I break down all of our picks, here are the most notable scoring rules for DraftKings contests: Full-point PPR, four-point passing TDs, three-point bonuses for 100 rushing yards, 100 receiving yards, and 300 passing. Along with having a $50,000 budget to build a complete lineup.

Quarterbacks

Tom Brady ($6,300)

First off, if you’re mad about what Tom Brady did Sunday, don’t be. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin were both tackled around the one-yard line with almost touchdowns which would have given Brady a better day. Coming in as the QB6 this week and his cost could make some question it, but don’t as he is getting hot at the right time. He’s out of my true bargain bin play (under $6k), but I’m willing to spend up on him this week and build around that.

Geno Smith ($5,700)

Going back to the well once again with Geno Smith as he’s looking a lot better than Russell Wilson as he’s been averaging 27.2 points over his last three games. He’s thrown multiple touchdowns in three consecutive games along with two 300-yard passing games. The Seahawks have been a surprise this season, and to keep riding the hot streak of Smith just seems like easy money.

Marcus Mariota ($5,300)

Looking at Marcus Mariota here is a lottery ticket that could hit at any moment,. He’s not a good NFL quarterback at all and his end is coming but from a fantasy perspective, his rushing ability is what pulls me in. Over his last two games his rushing yardage was nothing, but Sunday he turned seven carries into 61 yards. If Mariota can run as he did on Sunday along with throwing (been under 200 yards for two consecutive weeks) and not being a game manager, then we could have a hell of a blow-up game.

Running Backs

Breece Hall ($5,800)

We’re here folks, the Breece Hall train has left the station, and getting an RB1 at RB19 cost is fantastic. Hall realistically should have had a three-touchdown performance but Michael Carter spelled him on both opportunities. The first one was a 79-yard catch and run where Hall got tackled at the 1-yard line to end the first quarter. Hall gets it right? Nope, Carter gets the carry and the score.

Secondly, the next one in the fourth quarter was robbed by Carter again after Hall had a 21-yard catch.

The great thing overall about this is that Hall is still under $6,000 thanks to not scoring those touchdowns as his 30.7 points could have been even more yet. This will be the last week Hall makes the bargain plays. Put him in every lineup you have this week and reap the reward that he will give you.

J.K. Dobbins ($5,500)

Going from 13 touches down to eight has many people asking questions about why J.K. Dobbins wasn’t on the field much in Sunday night’s game, let alone the fourth quarter. From Ravens head coach Jon Harbough, Dobbins was on a pitch count. Before this game, Dobbins’s snap share and touches were going up, and then Sunday night happened. Maybe it was something internal with the team because he looked really good.

Pounce on this play this week. Dobbins ownership could be low for this reason, let alone the OPRK 12th against the running back position. Looking at the Giants against running backs, they have been giving up the yardage, but have only surrendered one touchdown on the season to Ezekiel Elliott.

Cam Akers ($5,300)

This one is a controversial call as Cam Akers hasn’t done anything this season. Sunday afternoon was just as atrocious as he carried the ball 13 times for 33 yards. Akers has just looked awful and I think it’s the offensive line injuries that have been holding him back from being that explosive back we liked a couple of years back. This offense just isn’t clicking like it was last season and it shows. Matthew Stafford is looking like his old Detroit Lions self and the Los Angeles Rams are now 2-3.

So why Akers now? He isn’t doing anything that should garner any ownership. Head coach Sean McVay loves Akers and it showed as he gave him all the touches and none to Darrell Henderson at all against the Cowboys. He sees something we’re not seeing but that game could be coming here against the Carolina Panthers as they have been giving up on average 121 rushing yards and 0.6 touchdowns, that’s including the two touchdowns from the 49ers running backs. Many will look to go Henderson in this game as he’s looked better overall, but I’m willing to buck the trend and take Akers. Also, will eat crow if it’s wrong too.

Wide Receivers

Tyler Lockett ($5,600)

Every week from Week 1 through Week 4 Tyler Lockett has gone up in price. Last week Lockett’s cost dropped $300 and that cost for some reason didn’t increase this week and stayed the same. Lockett had two touchdown catches last week and exploded for 30.4 points. This week we are going back once again to Lockett. Arizona ranks 8th against the wide receiver position, but what you should know is that the Cardinals are good at locking down the WR1 of the opposing offenses.

D.K. Metcalf will get a mix of Cardinals cornerbacks Byron Murphy Jr. and Marco Wilson, who just held A.J. Brown to three catches for 32 yards. On the other side of Brown was DeVonta Smith who had 10 catches for 87 yards. Lockett is the WR2 here for the Seahawks and that continues to make him an easy smash in lineups until proven otherwise.

Jakobi Meyers ($5,300)

It doesn’t matter if it’s Mac Jones or rookie Bailey Zappe under center when healthy Jakobi Meyers is the WR1 for the Patriots. . He gets the volume we love to see, it just sucks that he’s allergic to the end zone as he now has two career touchdowns. Fellow wide receiver Nelson Agholor possibly missing this week as he hurt his hamstring against the Lions early leading to Meyers 7-111-1 game against the Detroit Lions defense which just didn’t seem to want to be in Foxborough. Cleveland on the other hand has some injuries on their defense and Meyers could have another nice day and maybe a touchdown.

George Pickens ($4,600)

Get me once, and I’ll tell you yeah he’s a rookie and that happens. Do it in back-to-back weeks and now you have my attention. Once Mitchell Trubisky was replaced after the first half by Kenny Pickett in Week 4, I had to see if George Pickens could produce in a full game with Pickett considering four of his six catches and 71 of his yards came in the second half. With a full game with Pickett, Pickens was able to produce once again turning six catches (eight targets) into 83 yards in a blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Thinking with back-to-back performances that Pickens would be over $5,000 but holds in at WR40 while producing low-end WR2 numbers. Pickens and Pickett were building chemistry over the offseason as second-stringers and it seems to be mending well. If Pickens continues to get 8-plus targets and keeps performing like this, we have to keep getting him in lineups.

Tight Ends

David Njoku ($4,000)

The Cost of David Njoku is at its highest at the moment and I think we are on the brink of not having him in our bargain plays soon. Njoku is up to TE7, but you start looking past him and it’s truly a touchdown or bust for tight ends. It’s okay because we are used to this at the position hoping for a touchdown and much more.

Njoku has been getting elite tight end targets 5.8 for the season and no less than six over his last three. Furthermore, he has caught 84.2% of them, turning that into 24 receptions for 289 yards and one touchdown. Touchdowns are fluky as we all know, ask the person who had or went up against Travis Kelce Monday night.

Hayden Hurst ($3,300)

Speaking of touchdown Hayden Hurst has back-to-back games with a touchdown and now two for the season. If Tee Higgins is to miss the game, I like Hurst even more being Joe Burrow’s safety blanket and a player he likes to use in goal line settings. We could see his third touchdown this week.
