Drake London 2024 Fantasy Outlook: WR1 Season Loading?
The 2024 fantasy football season is close at hand and many drafts will be taking place in the next few weeks. Ever since the Atlanta Falcons signed free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins, the hype for wide receiver Drake London, has been rapidly increasing.
In this article, we’ll dive into London’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. We’ll explore his strengths, and potential red flags, and compare him to other running backs in the league.
Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on whether London can finally reach his first-round draft potential this year or not.
WR Drake London Fantasy Outlook
Drake London is heading into his third season in the NFL, and the former eighth-overall pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 has been underwhelming since he entered the league. He has finished as the WR 36 and 38 the past two seasons. Subpar quarterback play from Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder, and Taylor Heinicke did not help London the past two years
2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Heading into this season, London is being valued as a WR1 when it comes to fantasy football rankings. His ADP is currently WR10. There were a lot of positives this offseason for the Atlanta Falcons and their offensive talent.
Head coach Arthur Smith was let go after three failed seasons. Along with Smith out the door was hopefully the mismanagement of elite offensive talent like London. Raheem Morris was brought in as the new head coach but more importantly, Zac Robinson was hired as the offensive coordinator. Robinson is a disciple of the Los Angeles Rams’ offensively gifted head coach Sean McVay, and there is hope that Robinson will finally let London, tight end Kyle Pitts and running back Bijan Robinson loose.
The Falcons also made the biggest splash in free agency by signing veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year $180 million contract. Without a doubt, Cousins is the best quarterback London has played with since he entered the league.
Dynasty Football Outlook
Interestingly enough, London’s dynasty fantasy football ADP is two spots lower than his redraft one at WR12. With the surprise drafting of quarterback Michael Penix Jr. eighth overall in the first round of this year’s past draft, along with Kirk Cousins, London should have stable quarterback play for years to come. London will be turning 23 years of age in July and can be a receiver on your roster that can help you for the next eight to ten years. However, with all the offseason hype, the cost to acquire London is not cheap.
Conclusion
London’s ADP is WR10. Teammates Robinson and Pitts have ADPs of RB3 and TE6 respectively. All three players are forecasted to produce at elite levels this year, yet Cousin’s ADP is only QB18! A mid-level QB2 is supposed to support three top-tier talents. Something doesn’t add up here.
London’s talent is undeniable and there exists an opportunity for him to break out this year. However, the WR10 (which is London’s current ADP) ) last year scored 256.8 PPR fantasy points. That is 90.5 points or 55% more than what London scored last year.
Going from a borderline WR3 the past two years to a low-end WR1 is an enormous jump in production. Is the fantasy community baking in an unrealistic increase in production with London with his current ADP? Only time will tell, but I won’t be the one drafting London at his current ADP to find out.
