Dynasty Fantasy Football Sells: Running Backs
The world of football is an ever-changing landscape. As dynasty fantasy football managers, we need to keep up to date with these modifications. These modifications can be as little as a player getting older or a change of head coach or even changing teams. I will be looking into a few running backs and explaining why I believe they are players you should be looking to sell. With that said, let’s dive right in with Dynasty Fantasy Football Sells: Running Backs.
Alvin Kamara
The last month or so has not been kind to the managers of Alvin Kamara. Since coming off of the worst fantasy output in his career where he totaled 234.70 fantasy points, still good enough for 8th overall in PPR formats, the Saints running back has run into roadblock after roadblock. With Sean Payton no longer the head coach, an unpredictable quarterback situation, and the recent incident involving Kamara in Las Vegas, he is a player I would be looking to move on from as soon as possible.
Furthermore, Kamara is 26 years old and missed four games last season. There is a very real possibility that Kamara gets handed a suspension next season due to the incident in Las Vegas, depending on how the legal process plays out. Simply put, with everything going on at the moment, Kamara feels like a player whose career is heading in the wrong direction, sell him now whilst his name still holds value would be my advice.
Derrick Henry
Very few running backs have been as consistent and productive as Derrick Henry in recent years. Before the start of the season, Henry had missed just two games since entering the league in 2016. During the 2021 season, Henry injured his right foot when he suffered a Jones fracture in Week 8. Henry returned for the playoff clash with the Cincinnati Bengals, however, he only averaged 3.1 YPC as he put up a 20-62-1 stat line.
With a full offseason to get fully healthy, we could see Henry back to the dominant player he was before his injury. However, it is worth noting that the Titans running back is 28 and coming off of a foot injury. I would be looking to move Henry on. The decline is coming for Henry, and I wouldn’t want to be the manager rostering him when that happens.
Many managers believe Henry will return to the status quo next season, I am not so confident, however, I will admit it is a possibility. I would urge on the side of caution and move him on now before it is too late.
Dalvin Cook
Dalvin Cook is another player who missed games this season, missing four games in total. At 26 years old, Cook is at the age where managers might consider moving him on. You can get an absolute haul right now in return for him. Cook finished 16th in PPR formats in 2021, and with Alexander Mattison gaining a greater role in the team, it seems like the right time to move on from Cook. Any manager wanting to keep Cook should try to acquire Mattison, as he is one of the most valuable handcuffs in fantasy football. I would be looking to move Cook on, and if I didn’t have Mattison, I would be looking to trade him to the Mattison manager first.
Other Sells: Ezekiel Elliott, Aaron Jones, and Nick Chubb.
