Dynasty-Fantasy-Football-Week-15-Buys-and-Sells

With the fantasy football playoffs kicking off this week, many fantasy players are already looking forward to next year. If you’re looking to 2023 already, check out our 2023 rookie content. While the fantasy season has only three weeks left, that doesn’t mean you should stop exploring the trade market in your dynasty leagues.

The 2022 NFL season has flashed right before our eyes, and several players have seen a rise or fall in their fantasy value. Younger players have shown superstar potential, while others have struggled to earn playing time. Some veteran players are showing signs of regression, while others remain the fantasy stars they were last season.

While everyone loves a buy low and sell high article, I’m focusing on four players I would consider trading for or trading away. Some of these players will be buy low and sell high candidates, while others will be buy high and sell low candidates.

As always, feel free to DM me on Twitter (@Mike_NFL2) with trade questions specific to your fantasy league.

All stats in this article are based on half-point PPR scoring.

Buy: Chris Moore, WR, Houston Texans

The seven-year veteran has never been fantasy relevant in his career. Moore averaged under 2.1 fantasy points per game before this season. However, he averaged only 1.5 targets per game during that span. More importantly, Moore has shown some promise this year. The veteran has averaged 6.2 fantasy points per game this season, a career-high. Furthermore, he has stepped up when his number has gotten called.

In the four games with five or more targets this season, Moore has averaged 10.8 fantasy points per game. He scored 8.5 or more fantasy points in three of those contests. Furthermore, the veteran had the best game of his career last week against the Dallas Cowboys, totaling 10 receptions on 11 targets for 124 receiving yards and 17.4 fantasy points. While Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins were out, Moore showed that he can play a meaningful role on offense. The veteran is a free agent this offseason. Don’t be surprised if he joins a new team and has a Zay Jones-like breakout year in 2023.

Buy: Chigoziem Okonkwo, TE, Tennessee Titans

While tight ends that headlined the 2022 NFL Draft were Trey McBride, Jelani Woods, and Greg Dulcich, Okonkwo has been a massive surprise. The fourth-round pick was the 10th tight end drafted this year, behind players including Jeremy Ruckert, Charlie Kolar, and Jake Ferguson. Yet, the former Maryland Terrapin has played better than any other rookie tight end not named Dulcich this year. Over the past six weeks, Okonkwo has averaged 44.7 receiving yards and 7.1 fantasy points per game.

However, he has totaled at least 31 receiving yards in all six games despite having only one reception in half of the contests. More importantly, the rookie has earned more of a role with the team lately. Over the past three weeks, Okonkwo has seen five or more targets in every contest, averaging 9.8 fantasy points per game. With Austin Hooper on a one-year deal, Okonkwo will be the starter in 2023. Now is the time to trade for the young tight end. His fantasy value will only increase from here.

Sell: Brock Purdy, QB, San Francisco 49ers

There is no better time to sell high on a player than when the public turns him into a legend. Purdy has done his job for the 49ers this season. After losing Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, no one expected much from the seventh-round rookie. However, the former Iowa State quarterback has averaged two passing touchdowns and 17.5 fantasy points per game since Garoppolo suffered the broken foot. While he has played well, Kyle Shanahan has simplified the offense for Purdy. More importantly, this year’s Mr. Irrelevant pick isn’t the franchise quarterback.

He has done what the team has asked of him. However, San Francisco is winning games because of their defense, coaching staff, and Christian McCaffrey. Purdy is averaging 23.5 pass attempts per game in his two starts. Meanwhile, the defense has surrendered only 9.4 points per game over the past five weeks. While the 49ers don’t face an explosive offense again during the regular season, they will in the playoffs. When that happens, Purdy won’t be able to put up the points needed to win the game, and he will get exposed as only a backup quarterback. Trey Lance is the quarterback of the future for the 49ers, not Purdy. Sell high while you can.

Sell: Evan Engram, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars

Anyone smart enough or lucky enough to start Engram last week almost certainly won their Week 14 matchup. The veteran tight end had a career day, catching 11 of 15 targets for 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns while scoring 33.7 fantasy points. However, 31.4% of his fantasy points this season came last week. Furthermore, Engram was the TE15 over the first 13 weeks this season. After last week’s performance, he is now the TE4 for the year. Coming off a career performance now is the time to sell high on the tight end.

Engram is having a career year. His 8.3 fantasy points per game average is his best average since 2019. Furthermore, he is on pace for a career-high in receptions with 69. However, the veteran tight end has dealt with injuries and drops in his career. More importantly, he was the TE6 as a rookie. Since then, Engram has never finished higher than the TE12. After signing a one-year deal with the Jaguars, the former first-round pick will be a free agent again this upcoming offseason. Given Jacksonville’s cap situation, Engram likely will be playing for his third team in three years next season.
