Now that we are through the first few weeks of the season, fantasy players have a clearer picture of their dynasty teams. When everyone has a 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2 record after Week 2, it’s easy to say you’re team is a contender regardless of the record. However, that isn’t the case.

The 2022 NFL season is flashing right before our eyes, and several players have seen a rise or fall in their fantasy value. Younger players have shown superstar potential, while others have struggled to earn playing time. Some veteran players are showing signs of regression, while others remain the fantasy stars they were last season.

While everyone loves a buy-low and sell-high article, I’m focusing on four players I would consider trading for or trading away. Some of these players will be buy-low and sell-high candidates, while others will be buy-high and sell-low candidates.

As always, feel free to DM me on Twitter (@Mike_NFL2) with trade questions specific to your fantasy league.

Buy: Rashaad Penny, RB, Seattle Seahawks

I have been anti-Penny since the end of last season. While he was a league winner for many, including myself, last year, I had no interest in adding Penny to my dynasty teams at that time, given the cost. However, there is an opportunity to buy Penny at a massive discount after the veteran running back suffered a fractured fibula and will miss the rest of the 2022 season.

Unfortunately, the former first-round pick has missed 40% of the games in his career due to numerous injuries. However, he’s averaged 5.7 yards per rushing attempt in his career when he’s been able to stay on the field. If you can add Penny for a late-round pick, make the deal and slide him into one of your injured reserve slots.

The running back is a free agent after this season and, hopefully, will sign with a team willing to give him a chance at consistent touches next season. Depending on where he lands, fantasy players could flip the running back to a still-believing league mate for a better draft pick come April.

Buy: Kenneth Walker, RB, Seattle Seahawks

The only winner from Penny’s injury is Walker. The former Michigan State star has only 7.3 touches in four games this season. However, he started to earn more work over the past two weeks, seeing eight rushing attempts in both contests. More importantly, Walker has averaged 7.2 yards per rushing attempt the past three weeks and now will get a chance to shine as the featured back in Seattle.

Walker was one of two elite running backs (joining Breece Hall) in the 2022 NFL Draft class. When the Seahawks used a second-round pick on the former Spartan, many said he got drafted to replace Chris Carson (who ultimately retired because of a neck injury). However, his destiny was to have a featured role for the Seahawks.

Dynasty Rookie Profile: Kenneth Walker III

He had a 50.2% college dominator, putting him in the 99th percentile, according to PlayerProfiler. More importantly, the Seahawks have had success running the ball this season. Trading for Walker will likely cost a 2023 first-round pick, but now is the time to buy before the price goes up.

Sell: Cooper Rush, QB, Dallas Cowboys

When Dak Prescott suffered a thumb injury in Week 1, Cowboy fans thought their season was over. However, Rush has led the team on a four-game winning streak and given the Cowboys the chance to take over as NFC East division leaders with a win Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

While the fifth-year quarterback has played well for the Cowboys, Rush has averaged only 11.9 fantasy points per game in his four starts this season. Furthermore, he has only one game with more than one touchdown despite an easy slate of opponents.

Some believe the Cowboys have a quarterback controversy on their hands. They do not, as this is Prescott’s team. However, fantasy players might be able to take advantage of their foolish league mates and get a late-round pick for the backup quarterback.

The first team fantasy players should talk to is the one with Prescott on their roster, as it is not uncommon to handcuff quarterbacks in Superflex leagues. See if you can get a fourth or fifth-round rookie from the team with Prescott on their roster. Whether it’s this week or in Week 7, Prescott will return, and Rush will have very little fantasy value.

Sell: Dyami Brown, WR, Washington Commanders

Last week Brown was the WR5, scoring 23.5 fantasy points against the Tennessee Titans. He made two impressive downfield receptions, resulting in the only two touchdowns in the game for Washington.

While the highlight plays were great for social media and the highlight shows on YouTube, Brown’s performance was all flash and lacked substance. Furthermore, it took Jahan Dotson and Logan Thomas missing the game for the former UNC receiver to see the field.

While he got an opportunity with Dotson and Thomas unable to play, Brown still had fewer snaps than Curtis Samuel, Terry McLaurin, and Cam Sims. Brown played 32% of the snaps last week, while all three other receivers played 59% or more. Furthermore, he ran 15 routes against the Titans, which accounted for only 39.5% of Carson Wentz’s pass attempts.

More importantly, Brown had 23.2 fantasy points in 19 career games before scoring 23.5 fantasy points last week. Given all the circumstances surrounding his performance, fantasy players should trade away the Washington receiver if they can net a third-round pick or more.
