2024 NFL Draft Winners – Dynasty Fantasy Football

As we sit here a month on from the draft, it’s time to discuss what teams did and how they improved, while looking at position groups and seeing what may come next. Free agency has passed, so the most vital period of adding players to NFL rosters is over between that and the NFL Draft. Now is the time to project and start formulating our dynasty rosters for the upcoming season, so it’s logical to start projecting winners and potential starters long-term. Let’s discuss five winners for dynasty league football purposes following the 2024 NFL Draft.

Jacksonville Jaguars Offensive Weapons

We kick this article off by talking about the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that went through a lot of fluctuation on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. While that usually means struggles with chemistry or learning new schemes early, this Jaguars team still returns some key pieces in Travis Etienne, Evan Engram, and Christian Kirk. They added logical tertiary assets on the offensive side in Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr. as well, putting weapons all over the field for Trevor Lawrence.

Overall, these acquisitions give a definite bump to Lawrence’s dynasty stock. He hasn’t had this threatening of an offense to this point in his young career. With the departures of Zay Jones and Calvin Ridley, there’s also seemingly an opportunity in targets for the new guys. If you’re holding one of Engram, Etienne, or Kirk, you can expect more of the same from last year and maybe even slightly more. Both Davis and Thomas Jr. believers get a good opportunity to see if either talent can shine through with volume in 2024.

Ultimately, you can’t go too wrong investing in any of these areas. There’s a ton of youthful talent in growing Jacksonville, and dynasty managers should take note. Between Lawrence, Etienne, and the pass catchers, there’s plenty of value in this young offense.

Cincinnati Bengals Running Backs

Naturally, a lot of the focus after the 2024 NFL Draft is around what happened during the draft. Conversely, the next pair of assets is all about what did NOT happen during the 2024 Draft. We’ll start talking about the Cincinnati Bengals backfield, led by new signing Zack Moss and second-year rusher Chase Brown.

Both running backs are staring down an opportunity for a role in this Bengals offense. This has been the case as the team moved on from 2023 starter Joe Mixon this offseason. The team also didn’t add competition through the draft, so outside of a few UDFA adds for training camp, Moss and Brown appear ready to bear most of the rushing work this Fall.

Furthermore, both of these talents offer something a little different. Moss brings that short-yardage touchdown upside, as well as volume upside. On the other hand, Brown offers game-breaking agility and playmaking, setting the table for a possible Jaylen Warren Flex-type season. If the other is out, these are both RB2-level fantasy assets. However, both could be solidified RB3s with complementary skillsets, even if they have to share work during 2024. Dynasty managers should feel confident keeping these assets or capitalizing on clear selling windows over the next few months.

Las Vegas Raiders Quarterbacks

This second duo also benefitted from the lack of added competition for 2024, with Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew each experiencing a slight value revival this offseason. O’Connell would appear to have an incumbent edge at this point in the offseason, but this feels like a quarterback battle to watch throughout training camp.

Minshew offered the Colts some emotional juice and a bump last season when Anthony Richardson got injured, carrying the team through a difficult season but achieving a 9-8 record. The Raiders may be able to put together a similar record if Minshew wins the job, as offensive weapons Jakobi Meyers, Davante Adams, and Brock Bowers are as good of weapons as Minshew has had.

Moreover, the defense in Las Vegas is stout as well. In the end, whoever wins this job may have more wins than expected come playoff time. Overall, managers with O’Connell or Minshew should be attempting to sell now or be prepared for a rollercoaster of value later this year. Both of these players could start this year, which could, of course, signal a lack of production by either. It’s a risk, so if you can get a second-rounder or high-end third right now for one of these two, take that and run.

Pivoting off these types of players for youth is logical if you’re rebuilding. However, a contender may target these two with a miscellaneous third-rounder and get themselves a stopgap QB3 for a couple of years.

Justin Jefferson Dynasty Stock

Justin Jefferson and his dynasty managers have to be thrilled with this current offseason for the current Vikings wide receiver. Not much seems to deter his high dynasty value, evidenced by the departure of a top-10 fantasy quarterback this offseason. Not to mention the addition of a rookie quarterback. Yet, managers remain confident due to the immense talent Jefferson possesses.

While some quarterback situations change a receiver’s outlook for the worse, it seems as though a player of Jefferson’s level is a receiver who can improve many’s outlooks on a quarterback such as JJ McCarthy. Being a Jefferson manager in a dynasty league immediately raises the value of your team, as he will remain worth a king’s ransom for quite some time.

For these reasons, Jefferson is one of the biggest winners from the 2024 NFL Draft. While T.J. Hockenson and Jordan Addison are still around, we all know this first-round pick was made to benefit and prove to a player of Jefferson’s talent that the team is serious about competing. Expect a high target share for Jefferson, which is the same as before, even if he begins the year with Sam Darnold under center. Most importantly, Jefferson will produce, and his value will continue to sustain as he explodes in 2024.

Marvin Harrison Jr.

We’ll finish this article by solely focusing on a single drafted player, Marvin Harrison Jr. of the Arizona Cardinals. While so much has been made about the paternal connections in the family and the talent of Harrison Jr., what excites me most about this pick is the investment level from the Cardinals and immediate opportunity. Harrison Jr. and Kyler Murray will immediately make each other better, and watching Harrison Jr. adapt to the extension of Murray’s plays will be exciting. Harrison Jr. has a ready-made receiving skillset which will be a welcome sight in tandem with Trey McBride for the Cardinals, as it appears this offense is finally healthy and building around youth.

These are all positives, and wide receivers rarely walk into WR1 distinction on an NFL depth chart. Harrison Jr. will start immediately and should produce day one with a talented quarterback. Taken top five to pair with Murray gives shades of Joe Burrow/Jamarr Chase once again, and we’ve all seen how that worked out. Harrison Jr. is the biggest winner of any rookie coming into the league in 2024 for dynasty purposes.

So much talent came out of this 2024 NFL Draft, but it’s important to remember that current NFL assets have also benefitted from what’s transpired over the last few months. Most NFL teams drastically change rosters in the offseason, and that’s a model that is okay to replicate in a dynasty league. Surely, I’m not saying trade away your Tyreek Hills and Brandon Aiyuks, but don’t be afraid to pivot to new assets for your bench. Sometimes all a player needs is a new opportunity. This time last year, Zack Moss was a last-gasp hold for managers who would wait out Jonathon Taylor‘s contract situation.

Now, Moss finds himself with a projectable starting job heading into 2024. Minshew had no likely future road to start but now finds himself staring down a potential full season as the guy in Las Vegas. As it goes, there were plenty of dynasty winners following this 2024 Draft, even if they didn’t benefit from hearing their names called on Day 1, 2, or 3 of this year’s draft.
