5 Dynasty Sell-High Candidates 2025: Wide Receivers to Trade

0

When it comes to dynasty sell-high candidates, knowing when to make a move off of a player is a critical skill in dynasty fantasy football. More importantly, it can make or break your team’s long-term success. Today, I’ll break down 5 dynasty sell-high wide receivers to trade during this off-season.

Dynasty Sell-High Candidates 2025: Wide Receivers

When it comes to managing your dynasty league football roster, the challenge lies in deciding how long to hold onto a player and when to trade them at peak value. Timing is everything. More importantly, identifying players whose value may soon decline can give you a strategic edge over your competition. Continue reading for my top 5 dynasty sell-high candidates for this off-season.

Tee Higgins – Cincinnati Bengals

Heading into this upcoming off-season, Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is set to be the top free agent wide receiver. Could the Bengals franchise tag Higgins like they did in 2024? Absolutely. But for now, it does not seem very likely.

Even with Ja’Marr Chase as the Bengals WR1 and missing five games last season, Higgins had a great year. Impressively, he finished as the WR18 from Weeks 1-17, despite missing five games. More impressively, he was tied with Justin Jefferson as the WR2 in average points per game with 16.2.

Furthermore, Higgins had 73 catches for under 900 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns. Notably, he may very well have single-handedly won some fantasy managers their Championship match. This happened in Week 17 when he erupted for 34.6 points.

Resigning with the Bengals would not be horrible for Higgins. However, as long as they are on the same team, he will always play second fiddle to Chase. Moreover, the Bengals will look to shore up their horrendous defense this offseason and won’t want to be in as many shootouts as they were in this year. That could translate to fewer touches and production for Higgins for fantasy purposes.

Perhaps a change of scenery would be best for Higgins? Maybe. But how many other teams would have better quarterbacks than Joe Burrow?

Moving forward, there is no guarantee he would sign with a team where he would be the clear WR1. The five teams with the most cap space this offseason are the New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders, Minnesota Vikings, and the Chicago Bears. The only situation that seems even a bit tantalizing is with the Patriots and rookie standout quarterback Drake Maye. But when was the last time New England had a genuine WR1 and knew what to do with him? Randy Moss? It’s certainly been some time.

For dynasty purposes, trading Higgins could come back to bite you, depending on which team he signs with this offseason. It could also be possible that his value may never be higher. Let your fellow league managers know that Higgins is on the trade block and remind them of his Week 17 Championship-winning performance this past season.

Terry McLaurin – Washington Commanders

The fantasy football community has always loved McLaurin’s talent. Since joining the league in 2019, McLaurin has consistently finished in the WR2-WR3 range. There was concern that he would never reach his potential and be straddled with mediocre quarterback play for the rest of his career. Enter probable Offensive Rookie of the Year, Jayden Daniels.

With Daniels slinging him the football, McLaurin had his best season as a Pro. Notably, he finished the 2024 season with 82 receptions for 1,096 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns resulting in a WR6 finish.

However, McLaurin was the WR14 in average points per game at 13.2. Unfortunately, he did have some frustrating weeks with only 2.7, 1.5, and 1 point which happened to be in the Championship game in Week 17.

Furthermore, McLaurin will be turning 30 this coming season and a free agent at the end of 2025. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Commanders looked to give McLaurin and Daniels some help and look for his eventual replacement. Dyami Brown and Noah Brown along with Olamide Zaccheaus are at best WR3’s.

This offseason could see the Commanders draft a rookie in the upcoming draft. On the other hand, they could very well land a big free agent like Higgins. Keep in mind, that they have the third-most cap space at just over $96 million dollars.

Ultimately, McLaurin may never have a better season than his WR6 finish this year and his trade value may be at its peak. This could be a prime time to sell high on McLaurin in dynasty leagues.

Jerry Jeudy – Cleveland Browns

If you had told me before the season began, that Jerry Jeudy would have ended the year as a WR1, I would have replied back to you with the Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy meme “I don’t believe you.” Well, Jeudy did in fact finish the year as the WR12. Impressive, to say the least.

The former 15th overall pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2020 NFL Draft, has never really come close to realizing his potential. Since being drafted, Jeudy has finished as the W51, WR89, WR26, and WR54.

Being traded to the Cleveland Browns in the offseason didn’t exactly inspire confidence either in a possible resurgence. Things weren’t starting well for Jeudy either in the first quarter of this season. Notably, from Weeks 1-7, Jeudy was the WR56. Jeudy may have finished as a WR1 for the season but he was the WR29 in average points per game at 11.5. If you recall, his 36-point explosion in Week 13 almost accounted for 20% of his overall fantasy production for the year.

However, with DeShaun Watson injuring his Achilles in Week 7, Jameis Winston became the Browns starting quarterback from Weeks 8-15. Needless to say, the gunslinger Winston unleashed Jeudy’s former first-round pedigree. From Weeks 8-15, Jeudy was the WR4. Recently, Watson tore his Achilles again during his recovery.

If the lights have finally turned on for Jeudy, why would I advocate looking to trade him? As always, the reason centers around value. Jeudy’s value in dynasty football may never be higher than it is this off-season.

What will the Browns quarterback situation be for 2025? It is very likely that Watson will miss the entire season. Even if Watson miraculously came back early from his Achilles injury, Jeudy wasn’t performing with Watson throwing him the ball.

The Browns do have the second overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft and they may very well draft Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. However, early reports have the Browns trading out of the pick or drafting highly touted dual-threat Travis Hunter. Check out our 2025 NFL Draft Big Board to learn about some of these potential rookies they could grab.

Regardless, there is too much uncertainty for me to want to hang on to Jeudy in hopes that he can repeat his fifth-year breakout from 2024. This makes him a prime sell-high candidate in your dynasty leagues this offseason.

Jameson Williams – Detroit Lions

The former 2022 12th overall pick, finally had his breakout year in 2024. To be fair, the first two years of Jameson Williams’ career were mired by injuries and suspensions. While Williams did miss two games this past season, he was finally able to show for the majority of the season his skill and speed that made him a first-round pick. In the end, he finished the season as the WR19.

So why look to trade him? At best, Williams is the 4th or 5th option on his team behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Sam LaPorta. Additionally, the Lions’ defense in the second half succumbed to many injuries and were forced to play in many shootouts. That won’t be the case in 2025, leading to possibly fewer looks and touches for Williams.

Last season, Williams scored seven receiving touchdowns. Notably, five of his seven receiving touchdowns were passes of 34 yards or more. The Lions simply don’t look at Williams in the red zone as he is only 34th in red zone targets compared to St. Brown, who is first.

Furthermore, while both St. Brown and Williams finished within the top 24 among receivers in fantasy football, the Lions have become a run-heavy team. Notably, the Lions were fifth in the NFL in rushing attempts for the season. Head Coach Dan Campbell is more than happy to run all game with his Sonic and Knuckles duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

In the end, I cannot rely on a player who is not a top 2-3 option on his team. Additionally, someone who also relies on long touchdowns, to repeat as a WR2 entering 2025.

George Pickens – Pittsburgh Steelers

Anyone who has watched a Steelers game can see the immense talent that receiver George Pickens possesses. The former 2nd round pick in 2022, has made numerous jaw-dropping catches in his three-year career.

If you’ve watched a Steelers game this year, especially the last half of the season, you are also aware of the ongoing maturity issues with Pickens. There have been numerous occasions where Pickens is unable to control his emotions on the field (especially when the team is losing) and this has led to taunting, unsportsmanlike penalties, and fines by the league. Since 2023, Pickens has had to pay over $290,000 in fines.

In Week 12, Pickens had an altercation with Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II. Additionally, there was an incident at home in Week 18 where Pickens was seen arguing with fans from the sidelines. More yet, a recent report also has Pickens showing up late for the Christmas Game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Overall, there are some immaturity concerns.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin has attempted to keep Pickens accountable. Specifically, after the Steelers’ Week 13 win against the Bengals where Pickens’ antics were on full display, with quotes such as “He’s just gotta grow up, man.” Besides quotes, the Steelers and Tomlin don’t seem to have a handle on their prized wide receiver.

Overall, his on and off-the-field antics don’t even take into account the fact that he is set to be a free agent at the end of the 2025 season. Nor the fact that the quarterback situation with Pittsburgh is a total unknown. Both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are set to be free agents this offseason.

Nobody can deny Pickens’ raw talent and potential. However, as a dynasty manager, there is too much uncertainty around him to fully trust him. Ultimately, he is simply too much of a wild card for me and is a top candidate as a sell-high wide receiver during this off-season.
