Dynasty Rookie Profile: Andrei Iosivas
Wide Receiver, Princeton
6’3, 200 lbs
Strengths
An underrated wide receiver in this 2023 rookie class is Andrei Iosivas, out of Princeton. He is an NCAA Track & Field athlete which will draw many in, considering his size. When he isn’t doing on the track, he is allowing his long legs to quickly remove any cushion left from the defense. His hands are reliable, with very few drops in his college career. He has natural hands which he uses consistently to provide a large catch radius for his quarterback. Furthermore, his route running is above average for the class, sinking his hips well and doing well in transferring the direction of his momentum with only a little wasted movement.
Additionally, he tracks the ball very well and times 50/50 balls at the right time to high point efficiently. His effectiveness in the run game as a blocker is sure to be another asset that should have coaches getting him reps on the field early on. He’ll be a wide receiver to keep an eye on during the off-season as we approach the NFL Combine.
Weaknesses
Iosivas does have an issue with concentration drops on the rare occasions when he does drop the ball. He will want to continue to focus on making the catch until the pass is secured, rather than worrying about what will happen after the catch. While he is fast, he isn’t particularly explosive. His speed does require a lot of time to build up. This allows corners who can get a good initial move in press coverage, the chance to nullify his speed on a play altogether. However, if he is to become more effective at the NFL level, he will need to expand upon his counters to press coverage to find a greater role.
NFL Fit and Draft Capital
A comparison that you might hear is Christian Watson due to his small school location and size/speed combination. His competition level does mask weak areas and detracts from his strengths. This will put a big point of emphasis on his work in the Senior Bowl. Should Iosivas show out in Mobile, he could end up with 3rd Round draft capital. He translates as WR2 on a roster in the NFL.
For fantasy football and dynasty purposes, his upside is a WR3 or WR4 on your rosters. With these things considered, Iosivas doesn’t likely translate to more than a late 3rd or 4th round pick in your upcoming dynasty rookie drafts.
