Dynasty Rookie Profile: Blake Corum

Running Back – Michigan

5’8, 209 lbs

Strengths

Blake Corum is a smaller running back from Michigan. He has quick feet and can bust through the line quickly. Additionally, with this his ability to get to top-end speed quickly, he is very hard to get a hold of. Corum, with his small center of gravity, showed good vision and balance. He can stop on a dime and take off like a rocket.

Once Corum accelerates through the hole, he uses his lateral agility and balance to avoid defenders very well. His running style is one to love also as he runs with a forward lean. All things considered in Corum’s running, his receiving game is nothing to blink at. Yes, he had half of the receptions from the year but still possesses excellent hands and body control when running the flat.

Weaknesses

Corum’s overall size can kill him as he lacks the NFL frame to consistently run between the tackles. Additionally, with his small frame, he struggles against blitzes and passes blocking. Defenses are able to take sometimes get past him with ease as he tries to take them out by going low on them. We’ll see exactly where he measures in at the NFL Combine, but his size is definitely a potential knock on his value in the NFL.

NFL Draft Capital and Fit

Corum missed the Ohio State game by opting to get knee surgery. In the NFL, teams will want to use him as a tandem back for first and second downs. Corum currently projects as early as the 2nd Round in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft but could go in the 3rd Round and in the late first round in your upcoming dynasty rookie drafts. His draft stock should go up with any news that he’s ahead of schedule from recovery, but should be ready in time for the NFL Combine.
