Dynasty Rookie Profile: Kendre Miller
Running Back – TCU
6’0, 218 lbs.
Strengths
Miller is a compact runner with a great combination of size and speed for the running back position. He’s quicker than he is fast, which is ideal for a running back in the NFL. There are some good odds that those with doubts about him will be a lot quieter after testing at the NFL Combine happens.
He runs with patience and excellent lane selection. Additionally, he runs with an attitude and doesn’t give up when slowed down by contact. His great contact balance does well with shedding defenders with his movements down the field, as well as being able to set up open-field blockers to gain initial chunks of yardage.
Furthermore, Miller has fresh legs after spending two years behind classmate Zach Evans. This leaves Miller as a 20-year-old prospect with a little over 300 carries in his college career. This emergence has done the most stock increase of this season alone, bringing him from outside the top 10 at the position to firmly in the conversation of the top five.
Weaknesses
Miller doesn’t show much lateral agility with his downhill running style, not bouncing it outside often. He tends to wait too long for an ideal hole to develop and doesn’t wait creatively for it either. This often leads to him running into the back of his offensive line. He isn’t used out of the backfield often, with only 13 receptions in 2022, so the small sample size does leave questions in that department.
NFL Draft Capital and NFL Fit
Miller has been climbing draft boards for his effort this past season. The National Championship game did show that the effectiveness of the TCU offense relies on the effectiveness of the run game, which was absent in part due to his injury. That aside, Miller looks all in all like a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He does have the potential to be a three-down back in the NFL which all in all should lead to him being a borderline first-round pick in most dynasty rookie drafts next year, and the potential to go top five if he gets 2nd Round NFL Draft capital.
