Dynasty Rookie Profile: Rakim Jarrett

Wide Receiver – Maryland

6’0, 190 lbs

Strengths

Coming out of Maryland, Jarrett is a quarterback’s best friend and a talented wide receiver. He shows strong hands when pulling in the ball, and finds the holes in coverage, settling into them for easy completions. This is a big testament to his football IQ. He is great in yards after the catch and is able to shake defenders off as he works through contact. Jarrett is versatile in his placement on the field and can do well on the perimeter in using his solid frame to contest corners who attempt press coverages against him. 

Furthermore, once the ball is in the air he makes adjustments to the ball with the best of them. He does great boxing out his defender when going up for contested catches. His acrobatics and high-effort style of play leave him maximizing his catch radius.

Weaknesses

Jarrett’s weaknesses also start with his catch radius, with seemingly shorter arm length he will not fair as well with jump balls. Additionally, taller corners are likely to give him more problems. isn’t sudden at the start, and has more of a long speed than he has quickness. 

NFL Draft Capital and NFL Fit

Jarrett is a Stefon Diggs clone. Both are Maryland natives, five-star prospects, and Maryland Terrapins. Jarrett also rivals Diggs in size, coming into the league.  Jarrett is also likely to be a late Day 2, early Day 3 prospect. If he tests well at the 2023 NFL Combine, he can possibly improve his current perception. The perception is that he is a technician however, athleticism is a lot harder to improve upon in the NFL.

Finally, in a not-as-strong receiving class as we have had in previous years, Jarrett looks like an early third-round pick for your dynasty rookie drafts.
