Fantasy Football Outlook: As a shock to none, Elijah Moore has been traded. The real shock here, however, is that he was not sent in a package for Aaron Rodgers. Instead, he was sent off to Cleveland. A team that has been reported as wanting to spread the ball out more in 2023.
The Browns were in the market for a wide receiver all off-season. They had well-reported inquiries on certain players over the past week. These included former Brown Odell Beckham Jr. and former Seahawk Marquise Goodwin. It seems they finally settled on their guy in Elijah Moore.
He is a player whom the Jets had all but exiled from their offense this past season in favor of rookie sensation Garrett Wilson. Specifically, he was put into a secondary role, earning fewer targets and air yards per game than he had as a rookie. Overall, he’ll look to rejuvenate his NFL and fantasy football career in Cleveland.
What does this mean for Moore? Well, he is most certainly getting placed into the slot, having run most of his career routes from there. He will be a much-needed jolt to the Cleveland passing offense. This is an offense that, outside of Amari Cooper, couldn’t separate candy from the wrapper if they tried. Elijah Moore is a tentative buy in dynasty. I would not sell for anything less than a late first-round rookie pick.
Furthermore, trading for Moore all but seals the fate of sophomore wide receiver David Bell. He was a promising prospect coming into the 2022 NFL Draft but fell on draft night. We all found out why once he began playing against NFL competition, as he was one of the worst starting receivers in the entire league last season. His career is hanging by a thread, and I would sell for any rookie pick you can get. Otherwise, he’s droppable in dynasty leagues.
