Quarterbacks

Jimmy Garappolo – $7,000 – Ownership Proj. 4%

Garappolo gets to face a Miami defense that’s only allowing 183 passing yards per game over their last three games. So now you’re going to ask “Then why the hell are you suggesting I play them?” The answer has two parts. The first is that over those three games they’ve played Justin Fields, Jacoby Brisset, and Kyle Allen. The second part is that over their first eight games they allowed an average of over 275 passing yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game. Including four games of over 300 passing yards allowed.

I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking the last three games are fools’ gold and although the 49ers have a great defense they’ll need to score so Garoppolo should be able to reach our target score range.

Jared Goff – $6,800 – Ownership Proj. 6%

Goff is coming off of a solid fantasy game (240 passing yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions) against the Buffalo Bills defense that is ranked 8th in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. This week he gets the Jacksonville Jaguars who are ranked 25th in the same category. The Jaguars’ defense is also allowing 36.8% of their opponent’s drives to end with a score. There is also a slim chance that rookie wide receiver Jameson Williams plays this week which would only solidify this pick.

Running Backs

Nick Chubb – $9,600 – Ownership Proj. 9%

Nick Chubb gets the ultimate matchup this week as he faces the Houston Texans who would allow me to rush for 100 yards and a score. The Browns get Deshaun Watson at quarterback this week but you have to think he’ll have a bit of rust after such a long absence from football. I think that rust could benefit Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and or David Njoku as they would be likely to get a check-down look or two.

Travis Etienne – $8,000 – Ownership Proj. 9%

Etienne has been removed from the game each of the last two weeks. One was due to the Jaguars falling behind early and last week Etienne sustained a foot injury that ended his day. This week Etienne faces the Lions defense that is almost as bad as the Texans. This game looks to be a shootout which would surely help Etienne hit his target scores.

Dameon Pierce – $6,500 – Ownership Proj. 14%

Pierce has had a rough last 2 games and some have begun to speculate that it’s a result of wearing down as some rookie running backs do. However, in the last two games, the Texans have fallen behind early resulting in a total of only 15 carries. Even though they are +7 underdogs, I think he’ll have far more success on the ground against the Cleveland Browns who are ranked 30th in rushing defense DVOA and are allowing 4.8 YPC, 131 rushing yards, and just under 1.5 rushing touchdowns per game.

Wide Receivers

Amon-Ra St. Brown – $7,700 – Ownership Proj. 9%

I listed quarterback Jared Goff earlier and if he’s doing well it’s a fairly safe assumption that St. Brown is involved. Looking at the Jaguars defense on The Sheets you can see that they are ranked 30th in passing defense DVOA and are ranked 29th in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. A slightly more in-depth look reveals it’s generally the outside receivers doing the work against them which is why St. Brown is listed here. If you need the salary savings I wouldn’t be against swapping St. Brown for DJ Chark so long as rookie Jameson Williams does not play.

Tyler Lockett – $7,600 – Ownership Proj. 9%

Geno Smith has resurrected his career this year looking at his former quarterback Lockett must be happy. Lockett had scored a touchdown in 4 consecutive games in which he’s averaging 6 targets per game. The Seahawks are facing a Rams defense that was already ranked 26th in passing defense DVOA and will be without Aaron Donald. I’m going with Lockett over Metcalf but neither would be a bad option.

DeVonta Smith – $6,800 – Ownership Proj. 8%

This week the Eagles face the Tennessee Titans who are a pass funnel defense. On the season the Titans are allowing an average of 266 passing yards per game and 19 passing touchdowns on the season. The Titans are far more stout against the run so I don’t see Miles Sanders running wild this week. Smith should get his normal 8-9 targets that he’s seen in recent weeks.

Tight Ends

George Kittle – $5,700 – Ownership Proj. 15%

The 49ers face the Miami Dolphins this week at home. The 49ers come into the game having recently lost Elijah Mitchell again for an extended period of time. On top of that Deebo Samuel is dealing with a deep thigh bruise and wasn’t able to do much at practice this week. Lastly, Christian McCaffrey while playing is dealing with an irritated knee so as you can see the Niners are a bit banged up. Kittle who started the season slow shouldn’t be needed to block this week so I can see Garoppolo leaning on him a bit more in order to keep pace with the Phins.

Logan Thomas – $5,000 – Ownership Proj. 2%

Thomas and the Commanders have a divisional game against the New York Giants this week. The Giants are ranked 28th in fantasy points allowed to tight ends this year. Thomas is touchdown-dependent so if you use him just know that he could get us 2 points just as easily as he could get us 12. I won’t write up a third per se, but since Thomas is so hit or miss I’ll add David Njoku’s name to the mix. With a rusty Watson returning, don’t be shocked if Njoku has a few extra targets.

Defense/Special Teams

Baltimore Ravens – $4,500

The Ravens’ defense/special teams have scored 10 points or more in three of the last five weeks. This week they face the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson, need I say more? If you’re looking for a nice stack look at Gus Edwards with this defense.

GPP Stacks for Week 13

San Francisco @ Miami

I’ve already listed Garoppolo and Kittle above and you could absolutely run with that as a stack but I also think Brandon Aiyuk could benefit this week as well. The Dolphins are ranked 25th in passing defense DVOA and have allowed 17 passing touchdowns on the season. Feel free to go with one or both of Kittle and Aiyuk with your choice of Dolphins receivers as a run back. If forced to pick I’m going with Waddle.

Jacksonville @ Detroit

I think this game will draw a decent amount of ownership but still leave us room to differentiate with the salary saving from some of the 4 PM stacks. I listed Goff above but here I’ll throw Trevor Lawrence in the mix. Lawrence has been showing signs of improving and I highly doubt the Lions are the ones to stop that. I think stacking Christian Kirk is a solid option and Zay Jones is definitely turning some heads over the last couple of weeks.
