FanDuel GPP Picks – Week 16
The picks below are specifically for FanDuel large field tournaments. I try to mix in some different prices and ownership to allow you to build a competitive team each week. Feel free to give some feedback or ask any fantasy football questions you may have on Twitter @BigEZDFS. If you would like more information about my in-depth NFL DFS content, The Sheets, or you are interested please DM me on Twitter.
Here are some players to target in DFS this week in FanDuel GPP Picks – Week 16.
Quarterbacks
Geno Smith – $7,600 – Ownership Proj. 7%
Geno Smith is having the best year of his career thus far. This week he faces a Chiefs defense that’s ranked 25th in passing defense DVOA and allowing over 227 passing yards and two passing touchdowns per game. I foresee the Seahawks needing to pass to keep up with the Chiefs which bodes well for Smith.
Daniel Jones – $7,700 – Ownership Proj. 9%
Originally I was going to suggest Kirk Cousins here but decided to go with the better GPP option in my opinion. Jones hasn’t been amazing this year but has a very favorable matchup and game script as he faces a weak Vikings secondary that allows over 278 passing yards per game and 20 passing touchdowns on the season. The Giants are projected to trail which should give a bump to Jones’ production this week.
Running Backs
Dalvin Cook – $8,700 – Ownership Proj. 15%
The Vikings face the Giants this week who are allowing 5.4 YPC, over 150 rushing yards per game, and 15 rushing touchdowns on the season. They also come in as the 31st-ranked defense against the rush and have a favorable projected game script as they are currently 4-point favorites at home.
D’Andre Swift – $6,800 – Ownership Proj. 6%
Swift is the first of two value running backs I’ll list. Swift faces a Panther defense allowing 130 rushing yards a game and 16 rushing touchdowns on the season. The Lions’ offense is clicking on all cylinders so Swift will have ample opportunity to hit his target score range for us this week. Now if we can only find a way to keep Jamaal Williams out of the game we could get another 30-point week from Swift.
Isiah Pacheco – $6,700 – Ownership Proj. 12%
Pacheco was in a great spot last week but unfortunately, it didn’t translate into fantasy points as fellow running back Jerick McKinnon ended with the majority of the fantasy points. The projected game script is again in favor of Pacheco as the Chiefs are 10-point favorites at home against the Seattle Seahawks.
Wide Receivers
DJ Moore – $7,100 – Ownership Proj. 9%
Moore had a solid week last week as he finished with five receptions for 73 yards and one touchdown. This week he’ll go up against a Detroit defense that’s improved against the run but remains beatable on the passing side. I think the targets see a significant jump for Moore (around 8-9) and he can surpass the 100-yard mark with a touchdown.
Darius Slayton – $6,300 – Ownership Proj. 12%
Slayton is a solid option for quarterback Daniel Jones and he gets the Vikings defense that allows over 278 yards per game and 20 touchdowns on the season. With the projected game script there is a real chance that Slayton can end with a line similar to 6-100-1 this week putting us within our GPP target score range.
Curtis Samuel – $5,600 – Ownership Proj. 3%
When you play GPP’s, you need to get different and you will, at times, feel uncomfortable with some picks. This pick is a perfect example of that. Samuel runs almost 70% of his routes from the slot position. The 49ers have allowed a few other slot receivers to have respectable games (no slate-breaker scores). I think if you take that and the fact that WAS is projected to be trailing you have a couple of nice ingredients for Samuel. On top of that add in the fact that he’s been getting some usage in the ground game and the likelihood that Washington will need to be creative against this defense, and you have all I needed to add Samuel to my GPP player pool.
Tight Ends
Travis Kelce – $8,600 – Ownership Proj. 14%
This will be my shortest write-up for any player this season. Kelce is a beast and the Seahawks couldn’t cover me at the tight end position. If you have the salary, lock Kelce in this week.
Mitchell Wilcox – $4,800 – Ownership Proj. 2%
This option is here just in case you spent up at a few other positions and need to save some cash. Wilcox will draw the start after Hurst was ruled out. The Bengals face New England who, while they have a respectable defense, seem to lack the ability to cover the tight end position effectively. Please don’t look at Wilcox as someone who will put up Kelce-like numbers but at this price, Wilcox can definitely help us with savings and maybe a 4-40-1 line this week. You’re hoping he finds the end zone, but at this price it makes sense.
DSTs
Dallas Cowboys – $4,000 – Ownership Proj. 5%
The Cowboys defense lucks out and won’t face Jalen Hurts this week. While I know the Eagles have a great offense I think an integral part of that is Hurts himself. I like the fact they are at home, against a backup quarterback, and come in at only $4,000 on FanDuel. They also pressure the quarterback 40% of the time. With Hurts out, my hope is Dallas can focus a bit more on stopping the run as well.
GPP Stacks
New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings
This game has great Vegas data and the projected game script makes this one perfect to stack players in. The game script has the Giants trailing and the Vikings favored at home, pointing to this stack perfectly. I’ll go Jones and Slayton stack with a Dalvin Cook run-back. You could also go with Jefferson or Hockenson as your run-back but that would be dependent on your build and available salary.
Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans
Last week this spot was taken by a Darnold and DJ Moore suggestion which pretty much upset my stomach to write. Again this week, I’m putting up a stack that will surely have the excessive amounts of Christmas cookies you ate just about ready to exit your body. I’ll stack Mills and Cooks with a run-back of Henry. With Malik Willis starting I don’t see much offense coming via the air and why would you when you’re facing the Texans’ defense and you have King Henry in your backfield?
