Ashton Jeanty – Fantasy Football Impact on Las Vegas Raiders
Leading up to the draft, there was a belief and strong possibility that the Chicago Bears were going to somehow trade up from the 10th overall pick to draft running back Ashton Jeanty. Even the gambling world in Las Vegas was convinced that the Bears would draft Jeanty – the odds got as high as -190 for him being drafted by the Bears. That simply didn’t happen. Continue reading as we break down the fantasy football impact of Jeanty with the Las Vegas Raiders.
In the end, Jeanty was drafted where he was being most commonly mocked for the past few months. The Las Vegas Raiders drafted Jeanty out of Boise State with the 6th overall pick. As expected, there is a ton of excitement to see what Jeanty can do in the silver and black. Jeanty is a complete three-down back in today’s NFL and is the consensus 1.01 pick in any rookie draft format.
Ashton Jeanty Strengths for Fantasy Football Production
Last year, playing for Boise State, Jeanty had a historic season where he was one of the most dominant college running backs of all time. He rushed for 2,601 yards, which was only second to Hall of Famer Barry Sanders‘ single-season rushing record. Additionally, he set the FBS record with 10 runs of at least 60 yards. More yet, he tied the FBS record with another Hall of Famer, LaDanian Tomlinson, for the single season record of scoring 5 touchdowns of at least 70 yards. Finally, he averaged 7.3 yards per carry (a full 1.2 yards better than the previous season) and had 29 touchdowns.
All in all, Jeanty is the complete package. His strengths lie in his ability to avoid tackles and gain yards after contact. He has an elite-level contact balance and is extremely difficult to bring down. Last year, he had 152 missed tackles, which was 49 more than the next back. He had the most yards after contact with 1,970 and had 837 more rushing yards than the second leading rusher in North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton.
There is minimal competition in the Raiders’ backfield for Jeanty as Sincere McCormick, Zamir White, and free-agent signing Raheem Mostert pose no real threat to the incoming rookie. All in all, Jeanty enters into a situation where he is the clear RB1.
Fantasy Football Challenges and Risks
Some may mention Jeanty’s size (just shy of 5’9 and under 215 pounds) or the need for him to refine his pass blocking ability as negatives. However, that would truly be nitpicking to find something wrong with him. There is no such thing as the perfect prospect, but Jeanty sure comes close.
2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
For 2025 fantasy football leagues, Jeanty projects as a high-end RB1. Pete Carroll has found his new Marshawn Lynch. Carroll and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly will want to establish the run and will have no issues giving their new bell cow back 20-25 touches per game. In a 1QB league, Jeanty is a late 1st-round pick. However, in Superflex leagues, Jeanty is currently a late 2nd-round pick. All things considered, it isn’t crazy to say that Jeanty could be the RB1 this upcoming fantasy football season.
Dynasty Football Outlook
After Jeanty’s historic 2024 season, many had him as the 1.01 in all dynasty formats. Following the 2025 NFL Draft, nothing has changed after being drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders. Jeanty remains the 1.01 in dynasty rookie mock draft. He’s also the 1.01 in our latest dynasty rookie ADP. Additionally, most dynasty rankings have him locked in as the RB3 only behind Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs.
Overall, there is absolutely no reason to get cute with the 1.01 in dynasty rookie drafts. The recent history of running backs drafted this high in the NFL draft have a remarkable success rate. Ultimately, Jeanty is the pick and one who can serve as your upper-echelon RB1 for years to come. Jeanty’s fantasy football impact for both 2025 and for dynasty leagues is immense and cannot be ignored.
