Jalen Milroe Fantasy Football Outlook 2025: Rookie Sleeper?

0

The Seattle Seahawks entered the 2025 NFL Draft as a dark horse team to select a quarterback in the first round. While the Seahawks didn’t use their first three picks on a quarterback, they selected Alabama’s Jalen Milroe in the third round. Ironically, Seattle selected the dual-threat quarterback with the pick they got from the Las Vegas Raiders for Geno Smith. Today, we’ll break down the fantasy football outlook

Jalen Milroe Fantasy Football Outlook 2025

Will Jalen Milroe have a productive rookie campaign with the Seattle Seahawks? Or will Sam Darnold lead this offense, leaving Milroe to spend time learning from the sidelines? Continue reading as we break down the fantasy football outlook for the Seahawks’ new rookie quarterback in 2025 and beyond.

Jalen Milroe Strengths

Fantasy football players know that quarterbacks who can run are cheat codes. Lamar Jackson, Jayden Daniels, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts do enough with their legs to provide fantasy football players with low-end RB2 production. Milroe could be the next quarterback to join that group. Notably, he was an outstanding runner in college. He totaled 1,257 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns during his two years as the starting quarterback. Additionally, he scored at least 12 touchdowns in both seasons.

Furthermore, the former Alabama star had 20 rushing touchdowns in 2024, the second-most in the SEC. Meanwhile, Milroe is far from a finished product as a passer. Yet, he completed 65% of his pass attempts for 5,678 yards and 39 touchdowns compared to 17 interceptions in his two years as the starting quarterback.

More importantly, Milroe could start sooner rather than later. The Seahawks signed Sam Darnold and Drew Lock in free agency, replacing Smith and Sam Howell as the top two quarterbacks on the depth chart. However, the rookie would more likely start if Darnold struggles than Lock.

While Milroe has issues as a passer, the rookie would have two of the most quarterback-friendly options at wide receiver at his disposal. Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp aren’t the league’s top wide receiver duo. However, they will make life easier for whoever is under center for Seattle.

Jalen Milroe Weaknesses

Unfortunately, Milroe is the ultimate boom or bust quarterback. He struggled with simple passes at Alabama despite having 26 starts over the past two years. Meanwhile, his receiving core is awful behind Smith-Njigba and Kupp. Furthermore, Kupp has struggled with injuries the past few seasons, meaning he is unlikely to play in all 17 contests in 2025.

More importantly, the Seahawks had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL last year. They used their first-round pick on Grey Zabel. However, he was the only meaningful addition to a unit that has failed to stay healthy the past few seasons.

Jalen Milroe Fantasy Football Outlook in 2025

Fantasy players likely won’t see Milroe on the field as a rookie outside of a few Wildcat packages. Darnold is coming off the best year of his career. Meanwhile, Lock has had solid moments as a high-end backup quarterback. Therefore, the rookie isn’t worth drafting in 1QB leagues.

Furthermore, Milroe likely shouldn’t get drafted in superflex redraft leagues this year. The rookie is unlikely to see the field outside of designed packages with Seattle expected to be a playoff contender. He will only see the field as the starter if Darnold and Lock struggle or the coaching staff feels the season is over, leading them to play the rookie.

Jalen Milroe Dynasty Outlook

Dynasty fantasy football players should draft Milroe as a late second-round pick in Superflex rookie drafts. He could never see the field and be a fantasy bust. However, that would require the Seahawks to be so bad this upcoming season that they bench Darnold for Lock and secure a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. That scenario would allow Seattle to draft a high-end prospect in next year’s NFL Draft class, giving Milroe no chance to earn a starting role.

However, that is unlikely to happen, given the team’s solid roster. Milroe is more likely to get a chance to start later this upcoming season or in 2026. Darnold signed a three-year deal with the Seahawks in free agency. Yet, only the first year is guaranteed, meaning the team can cut him after the upcoming season with little impact on their salary cap.
