Week 8 Fantasy Football Tight End Rankings: Start of the Week

T.J. Hockenson at Los Angeles Rams

While T.J. Hockenson hasn’t yet been ruled in or out for Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, things are trending in a positive direction with his 21-day practice window ending soon.  The veteran tight end lands just outside my top 12 TE rankings, but carries significant upside should he suit up this week.  Hockenson would face the Rams defense, a unit that is second worst in the league in total fantasy points allowed against tight ends and schedule adjusted fantasy points allowed to the position, according to our free D-PAC metric.

With a big over/under for this primetime matchup and the team wanting to get Hockenson involved in the offense, this looks like a prime spot for the veteran. Hockenson is a high-end TE2 for me this week and he would rank much higher if not for concerns around snap rate in his first game back from injury.  I’m looking to get him into my lineups anywhere I don’t have a top 12 option from my ranks and love the upside of his matchup this week.
