Fantasy Football Rankings – Top 15 Quarterbacks for 2024
Are you ready to dominate your fantasy football league in 2024? One of the key components to building a championship team is selecting the right quarterback. The quarterback position is pivotal, often being the highest scorer on your fantasy roster. In this article, we’ll dive into the top 15 quarterbacks for the 2024 fantasy football season.
Whether you’re in a standard, PPR, or dynasty league, these rankings will help guide your draft strategy and keep you ahead of the competition. Stay ahead of the game and make informed decisions with our expert analysis and up-to-date rankings. Let’s jump into our latest fantasy football rankings, breaking down the top 15 quarterbacks.
Fantasy Football Rankings – Quarterbacks
Depending on the type of fantasy football league you participate in, the quarterback position can be an essential and important player(s) to your fantasy squad and its success. This is true in superflex and 2QB leagues. Or it can be an afterthought for many like it is in a 1QB league. Hence, the popular late-round quarterback draft strategy.
Regardless of what type of league you play in, trying to determine which quarterback(s) to draft and their potential value can help in building a championship fantasy team. Let’s get into my latest fantasy football rankings for 2024, breaking down the top 15 quarterbacks.
1 – Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Last season was an anomaly for Mahomes, as he finished as the QB7. It was just the year before in 2022, that he finished as the QB1. As you see, Mahomes sits atop my fantasy football rankings for 2024.
The Chiefs signed wide receiver Hollywood Brown in the offseason and drafted Xavier Worthy at the end of the 1st round in the 2023 NFL Draft. Along with sophomore Rashee Rice, veteran tight end Travis Kelce, and running back Isiah Pacheco, Mahomes has arguably his best offensive weapons ever in Kansas City.
Don’t let his poor performance in 2023 scare you off. A return to being the QB1 overall, especially in six-point pass touchdown leagues is well within Mahomes’ reach.
2 – Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
It’s hard not to rank Allen as the QB1 as his last three finishes have been as the QB1, QB2 and QB1.
Once Joe Brady took over as offensive coordinator in week 12, Allen threw for fewer touchdowns (7) than he ran for (8).
The Bills traded former star receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in the offseason and replaced him with Curtis Samuel, Chase Claypool, and 2nd round pick Keon Coleman. Allen’s passing upside is lower under Brady’s offense and knocks him down a spot.
3 – Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Jackson has a QB1 finish in his repertoire – in 2019. Last season he finished as the QB3. When healthy, Jackson has the floor of a top-five quarterback.
The Ravens’ big offseason signing was running back Derrick Henry. The question will be whether Henry will hurt or help Jackson’s rushing productivity. Regardless, a floor of 800 rushing yards along with 4-5 rushing touchdowns exists to maintain Jackson’s upside.
4 – Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts
This may be one or two spots higher than the consensus on Richardson, but the potential ceiling for him is off the charts.
In the two games, Richardson fully started he averaged 25.7 fantasy points – more than what the QB1 Josh Allen averaged last year at 24.2 fantasy points. Extrapolating a two-game sample size over the entire season is a little hopeful but Richardson will always possess that rushing upside that will give him a safe weekly floor.
While Richardson is a boom/bust selection, his potential weekly QB1 performances along with being the QB1 overall by the end of the season is too tantalizing to ignore.
5 – Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
If you read my 2024 fantasy football outlook for Joe Burrow, you would know how bullish I am on him for this year.
The first quarter of last year was disappointing for Burrow as his preseason calf injury severely hampered him, and as a result, from weeks 1-4 he was the QB32. However, from Weeks 5-10, he was the QB4 and third in passing touchdowns.
Burrow does not have the elite rushing upside as a Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen to truly have him contend for the QB1 spot. However, he has shown that he can be a top-five quarterback for fantasy in the past with a QB4 and QB5 finish.
6 – CJ Stroud, Houston Texans
Like Joe Burrow, Stroud doesn’t have the rushing upside to have him compete to be the QB1 overall.
What Stroud does have, is that he is surrounded by elite offensive talent and weaponry. The Texans traded for high-profile receiver Stefon Diggs in the offseason to go along with sophomore Tank Dell and Nico Collins, making them one of the best, if not the best trio of wide receivers in the league.
In Stroud’s rookie season, he threw for over 4,100 yards and 23 touchdowns in 15 games. Moving forward, throwing for over 5,000 yards and 30+ touchdowns is a distinct possibility this year. That would have made him a top-five QB in 2023, for what it’s worth.
7 – Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Needless to say, Love had a breakout season for his first year as the starting quarterback for the Packers. He was second in passing touchdowns with 32, only behind Dak Prescott, and finished as the QB5.
Love like CJ Stroud, boasts a trio (foursome if we add on Dontayvion Wicks) of up-and-coming wide receivers in Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and rookie sensation Jayden Reed. He also has two sophomore tight ends at his disposal in Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft along with high-priced free agent running back Josh Jacobs.
Everything in this offense seems to be on the upswing and Love will benefit because of it.
8 – Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
Coming off an ACL injury in 2022, Murray missed the first nine games of the season last year. When he played, from weeks 10-17 he was the QB10. Over a full year, Murray’s numbers would have translated to a QB7 finish.
Murray is another year removed from his injury, has uber-prospect and talent Marvin Harrison Jr. to throw to along with tight end Trey McBride, and add in a floor of 450 rushing yards with 3-4 rushing touchdowns – you have a quarterback who could easily finish within the top five.
9 – Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
I know. I know. QB9? For a quarterback that finished as the QB2 last year and the QB3 the year before?
As mentioned in my Dynasty Buys and Sells article, the allure of Hurts is his rushing prowess and specifically his rushing touchdowns. Last year Hurts rushed for 15 touchdowns.
During the offseason, the Eagles signed star running back Saquon Barkley and saw the “conductor” of the infamous “tush push” center Jason Kelce retire.
Hurts’ rushing upside won’t entirely disappear but if his rushing touchdowns decrease dramatically, then Hurts becomes a mid to lower level QB1.
10 – Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Prescott was in consideration for the league MVP late into the season last year. From weeks 8-17, he was the QB1 in fantasy points and was only behind Josh Allen with 23.8 points per game.
At QB10, Prescott is easily a value pick, but he is knocked down a few spots due to superstar receiver Ceedee Lamb’s holdout along with the fact that Dallas may have to throw a little less in the red zone with Ezekiel Elliot returning to the backfield, who has a nose for the end zone.
11 – Tua Tagovailoa Miami Dolphins
It was a tale of two seasons for Tua Tagovailoa last year. From Weeks 1-8, he was the QB5. However, from Weeks 9-17, he was the QB19. Having elite receivers like Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill to throw to along with running back De’Von Achane is a quarterback’s dream.
The Dolphins had an exodus on defense this offseason and are expected to be one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Something tells me there will be a lot of shootouts with Miami this season. That translates to a lot of passing yards and touchdowns for Tua.
12 – Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
In his first full year as a starter, Mr. Irrelevant was a steal in any league format. He finished the year as QB6; finished third in passing touchdowns and sixth in passing yards per game.
Purdy should be ranked higher, and will probably be a value pick again this season. Being tied to an efficient and productive offense like the 49ers will almost assure Purdy of a top-10 finish.
13 – Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Goff was another quarterback who was a great value last season, as he finished as the QB8. Although Goff did have two rushing touchdowns last season, his rushing upside is practically non-existent.
However, Goff still has superstar receiver Amon St. Brown, 2023’s TE1 overall in Sam LaPorta, rookie sensation running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and hopefully, an emerging Jameson Williams to throw to. As well, the Lions only play one outdoor game in the first 15 weeks of the season, which will benefit Goff and the Lions.
14 – Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons
It seems as though Cousins has fully healed from his Achilles injury last season and hasn’t experienced any setbacks in camp.
Cousins is already familiar with Zac Robinson’s offense as it is an offshoot of a Sean McVay style of offense, whom Cousins played under in Washington.
Wide receiver Drake London‘s ADP is WR14; tight end Kyle Pitts‘ ADP is TE7 and running back Bijan Robinson‘s ADP is RB3. Yet, Cousins’s ADP is QB19? Cousins has already shown that he can be a QB1 in the past and in order for his skilled position players to live up to their ADPs, Cousins will ultimately flirt with being a borderline QB1 as well.
15 – Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns
Watson’s time in Cleveland has been anything but disappointing. Before Watson got hurt last year, from weeks one to three he was the QB11.
In the five games he fully played, Watson rushed for 142 yards. That would add up to just under 500 yards rushing for the season which would have put WatsonZv fifth in rushing yards among quarterbacks last year.
Watson has been a QB1 before and an elite one at that. If he can stay healthy, he has the potential to be the biggest value among all the quarterbacks on this list.
