Top 10 WR Performances: 2024 Fantasy Football Recap

In this article, I’ll take a look at the top 10 fantasy running back performances for the year.

Disclaimer – All the data is from FantasyPros and 1/2 PPR scoring is used. Let’s get right into the top 10 WR performances from 2024.

10. Week 11 – Amon-Ra St. Brown vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (33.2 pts)

This game was a 52-6 shellacking by the Detroit Lions over the Jacksonville Jaguars. All of the Lions’ fantasy football-relevant players had themselves a feast. Jared Goff was the QB1 for the week. Both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs finished within the top six. Additionally, wide receiver Jameson Williams finished as the WR7. Finally, even kicker Jake Bates finished third at his position.

Meanwhile, Amon-Ra St. Brown finished with 11 catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns. With the Lions dominating running game led by “Sonic and Knuckles” getting most of the media and fantasy attention, St. Brown’s WR3 overall season, seems to have been an afterthought in the fantasy community.

9. Week 9 – Jaxson Smith-Njigba vs. Los Angeles Rams (33.5 pts)

This game against the Rams was the beginning of Smith-Njigba’s ascension into the Seattle Seahawks WR1 spot. Impressively, he caught seven passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

The 2024 season signaled the passing of the torch from DK Metcalf to Smith-Njigba as the Seahawks’ WR1. Ultimately, Smith-Njigba ended the 2024 season as the WR8.

8. Week 17 – Tee Higgins vs. Denver Broncos (34.6 pts)

It was a frustrating season for Tee Higgins and his fantasy managers as he missed five games with various injuries. However, Higgins saved his best performance for Championship week. Against the Broncos, he caught 11 passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns.

Overall, Higgins ended the season as the WR21. However, on a points-per-game basis, he was tied with Justin Jefferson as the WR3 with an average of 19.3 points. Higgins is set to be a free agent this offseason. Will he remain with the Bengals or sign a lucrative contract to be a team’s WR1 elsewhere?

7. Week 18 – Drake London vs. Carolina Panthers (35.7 pts)

In this game where the Atlanta Falcons still had playoff aspirations, London, who was catching passes from rookie quarterback Michael Penix, had ten receptions for 187 and two touchdowns.

Did you know that since Michael Penix took over the starting quarterback job from Kirk Cousins in Week 16, Drake London had a 39% target share in those three games? Additionally, London had a 12.5 ADot and averaged 117 yards per game with him. Could Penix be the quarterback that unlocks London’s massive potential and help him to be an elite WR1 in 2025?

6. Week 5 – Ja’Marr Chase vs. Baltimore Ravens (36.3 pts)

Entry number one for Ja’Marr Chase. In this first showdown between the AFC North rivals, the Baltimore Ravens pulled out a thrilling 41-38 overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chase caught ten receptions for 193 yards and two touchdowns. Two of his touchdowns were over 40+ yards. We’ll see Chase on this list again soon.

5. Week 13 – Jerry Jeudy at Denver Broncos (38 pts)

Jeudy’s season was truly a Jekyll and Hyde one. From Weeks 1-7 with DeShaun Watson as his starting quarterback, Jeudy was the WR56. Most in the fantasy community were not expecting much from Jeudy with his trade from the Denver Broncos to the Browns, so the start of his season wasn’t much of a surprise.

With Watson suffering an Achilles injury in Week 7, the Browns turned to Jameis Winston in Week 8. Who would have thought that Winston would be the key to turning around Jeudy’s season and ultimately his career?

From Weeks 8-15 with Winston as the starting quarterback, Jeudy was the WR4. In total, Jeudy finished as the WR12 on the season.

Furthermore, there will most likely be a new starting quarterback for the Browns in 2025. Did Winston finally unlock Jeudy’s former first-round potential or was part of his production this season a by-product of Winston’s gunslinger approach?

4. Week 14 – Ja’Marr Chase at Dallas Cowboys (38.1 pts)

Here is number two for Chase. If you needed a monster game from Chase to clinch a playoff berth, or the number one seed, or even a bye, Chase certainly did not disappoint his fantasy managers.

This game was a Monday Night Football thriller with the Bengals pulling out a win in the last minutes of the game. Chase caught a 40-yard pass from Joe Burrow with just over a minute remaining in the game.

Overall, Chase had 14 receptions for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he even added one rush for 14 yards.

3. Week 15 – Davante Adams at Jacksonville Jaguars (38.3 pts)

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and receiver Davante Adams decided to have one last vintage performance against the lowly Jaguars. Perhaps they thought they were wearing the green and gold of the Green Bay Packers again?

If you had Adams in your lineup for the first week of the fantasy playoffs, you were not disappointed. Adams caught nine passes for 198 yards, two touchdowns, and one 2-point conversion.

2. Week 2 – Jauan Jennings at Los Angeles Rams (41 pts)

There is absolutely zero chance that before the season began, I would have had Jauan Jennings on my bingo card as being part of this top 10 list. Odds are Jennings had this monstrous performance sitting on your bench.

Impressively, Jennings torched the Rams for 11 receptions, 175 yards, and three touchdowns. This performance alone accounted for 25% of Jennings’ fantasy football production for the year. However, Jennings did have a breakout season and finished as the WR27 while missing two games.

Will the 49ers’ crowded receiver room be reduced for next season, thus providing Jennings a real opportunity to be a difference-maker? Even if one of the four receivers (Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Ricky Pearsall) is off the roster, will Jennings be part of an ugly three-headed committee?

1. Week 10 – Ja’Marr Chase at Baltimore Ravens (49.9 pts)

Entry number three for Chase. Interestingly, this is also Chase’s second performance against the Ravens in this top-10 list. This game was a thrilling Thursday Night shootout between the two teams with Chase scoring a touchdown with only 0.38 seconds left in the game. Unfortunately for Bengals fans, they did not execute the two-point conversion and lost the game 35-34.

The overall WR1 for the year clearly demonstrated his dominance in this game. Chase finished the game with 11 receptions, 264 yards and three touchdowns.

Ja’Marr Chase is certainly in the conversation to be the 1.01 in next year’s fantasy drafts along with the RB1 Saquon Barkley. Can he repeat as the WR1 overall in 2025? The last wide receiver to have back-to-back WR1 seasons was former Pittsburgh Steeler Antonio Brown in 2014/2015.

Ultimately, Chase has been an absolute stud for both real-life and fantasy football purposes. In total, he showed up three times in the top 10 performances of the season. No one really needed this 2024 fantasy recap to tell them how good Chase was. You can confidently draft Chase as your WR1 or even with your 1.01 next year.
