Best Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em Week 17 Picks

For Week 17, every single decision is crucial. The wrong RB2 or quarterback choice could cost you a championship. With our latest fantasy football start em sit em picks, we are here to help you optimize your Week 17 fantasy football lineup. Let’s get right into this week’s picks for your fantasy football championship.

Start Em Sit Em Week 17 Quarterbacks

START – Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings

Leading up to the start of the 2024 season, nobody went in thinking Darnold would be in this conversation. Yet, here we are. He’s thrown 15 touchdowns in the last six weeks and nine in the last three.

Week 17 will be the second meeting between these two playoff teams. In the first game, Darnold threw for 275 yards and three scores. In his career against the Packers, Darnold has averaged 308 passing yards and three scores. This one’s going to be a battle as both teams want to prove their status before the postseason.

SIT – C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans

Over the last eight games, Stroud has once thrown for more than 250 yards while averaging 1.1 touchdown passes per game. The loss of Tank Dell not only takes away another playmaker on offense. However, the effect it had on Stroud was clear and profound as the two are close friends off of the field. Add to that the incredibly short turnaround for a Wednesday game and I’m looking elsewhere this week at quarterback.

Start Em Sit Em Week 17 Running Backs

START – Tony Pollard, Tennessee Titans

Pollard has quietly had a very nice year. He’s already hit a career-high 1017 rushing yards with two games to go. More importantly, he only needs 83 rushing yards and two rushing scores to get another $450K in salary bonuses. Against the Jaguars, with the second-best D-PAC Score for running backs, the Titans will look to get him at least one of those bonuses this week before possibly giving him the final week off and letting Tyjae Spears show his stuff. Ultimately, a big week is coming for Pollard.

START – Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The rookie runner out of Oregon has had an outstanding campaign. In the last five weeks, he totaled more than 90 yards in four games, with the fifth game shortened due to injury. Irving also leads all rookie running backs in rushing yards (920) and receiving yards (320).

Furthermore, the Buccaneers will host the Panthers in Week 17. Notably, they are the best D-PAC Score for running backs this season. In their last four games, running backs have averaged 6.1 yards per carry and 173 rushing yards per game. Irving is going to win people championships this week.

SIT – Rico Dowdle, Dallas Cowboys

After three straight games of more than 110 rushing yards, Dowdle gave fantasy managers a bit of a dud in Week 16. His 23 rushing yards were his fewest of the season but his three receptions for 28 yards almost salvaged his output.

This week, he’ll face a tough Philadelphia defense that allowed him to accumulate 53 rushing yards in Week 10. He should not be started this week. In fact, you should drop him now and hope that your opponent adds him and starts him based on his recent success for the ultimate sabotage play.

Start Em Sit Em Week 17 Wide Receivers

START – Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos

Before the Week 14 bye, Sutton had tallied at least six receptions and 70 receiving yards in six consecutive games. In four of those contests, he earned at least 97 receiving yards. He is the Broncos’ premier pass catcher and they’ll need him to perform this week.

Furthermore, the Bengals are the sixth-best matchup for fantasy wide receivers based on our free fantasy football tool, the D-PAC Score. In short, they score a lot. Notably, averaging 32.6 points per game in their last seven contests. Denver will need to be on their game as they try to simultaneously lock up a playoff spot while ending Cincinnati’s postseason hopes. As a result, Sutton will be a key component in this week’s affair.

SIT – D.K. Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

It hasn’t been a great year for Metcalf, as he has caught four or fewer passes in 10 of his 13 games played, including each of his last five games. He also hasn’t eclipsed 70 receiving yards since Week 7. It’s clear that Jaxon Smith-Njigba has surpassed him in the passing game with more than 70 receiving yards in seven straight contests and 9.1 targets per game. Time to move on to the next receiver on your roster.

Start Em Sit Em Week 17 Tight Ends

START – T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings

After missing the first seven games and having a slow return following that, Hockenson has averaged 12.7 yards per reception since Week 11. In each of his first three games back, he was on the field for less than 50 percent of offensive snaps. Since then, he’s been in for more than 60 percent in each game.

In Week 17, he’ll meet a familiar opponent from the East: the Green Bay Packers. Not only do the Packers have the third-best D-PAC Score for opposing tight ends, but Hockenson has scored in three of his last four meetings with them. Additionally, he’s averaging 6.75 receptions per game against them.

SIT – Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions

Through the fantasy playoffs, LaPorta has seen a resurgence with 69.3 receiving yards across his last three games and more than 12 half-PPR points in three of the last four weeks. Patient fantasy managers have been happy with the results.

However, the future doesn’t look good against the 49ers. Since Week 7, only one tight end has scored against San Francisco with only two surpassing 35 receiving yards in a game. Don’t let your championship dream fail due to one bad decision.
