Terrance Ferguson Fantasy Football Outlook 2025: Sleeper TE
The Los Angeles Rams have had one of the top offenses in the NFL since hiring Sean McVay as their head coach in 2017. Therefore, it’s no surprise that they have one of the most fantasy football-friendly offenses in the league. McVay has made several wide receivers fantasy superstars regardless of who is under center. Today, we’ll be breaking down the Terrance Ferguson fantasy football outlook for 2025 and in dynasty leagues.
However, the team’s tight end spot hasn’t been consistently fantasy-relevant in years. Yet, that could change after Los Angeles used their top choice in the 2025 NFL Draft on Oregon’s Terrance Ferguson, selecting with the 14th pick of the second round as the fourth tight end off the board.
Terrance Ferguson Fantasy Football Outlook 2025
Can Terrance Ferguson have an instant fantasy football impact in 2025 with the Rams? Or is he more of a long-term stash for dynasty fantasy football leagues? Continue reading as we break down the fantasy football impact of Ferguson with the Los Angeles Rams.
Terrance Ferguson Strengths
Ferguson didn’t have eye-popping numbers in college. In total, he had fewer than 44 receptions and 600 receiving yards every year at Oregon. However, many fantasy football managers loved the tight end during the pre-draft process. This was largely due to his raw athletic skill set.
The former Oregon star led all tight ends at the NFL in the 40-yard dash (4.63 seconds) and vertical jump (39 inches) at the NFL Combine. Ferguson’s athleticism showed up on the field in college. He was first among tight ends in the 2025 NFL Draft class with at least 20 targets in yards after the catch per reception (nine). Furthermore, his nine yards after the catch per reception average ranked ninth among the wide receiver rookie class.
Terrance Ferguson Weakness
While Ferguson is an athletic freak, the tight end is also a raw prospect. He lacked elite production in college, totaling 42 receptions for 591 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his final year at Oregon. Despite playing on one of the top offenses in the country.
Furthermore, the rookie will potentially struggle to make an immediate impact. The Rams have invested significant money at the tight end position over the past few years. Tyler Higbee is on his second contract with the team after being a 2016 NFL Draft pick. Meanwhile, Colby Parkinson signed a significant deal with Los Angeles in free agency last offseason.
Terrance Ferguson Fantasy Football Outlook in 2025
Therefore, Ferguson likely won’t have consistent fantasy football value in 2025. Clearly, the Rams trust their veteran tight ends. More importantly, Puka Nacua and Davante Adams will see the majority of the targets in the passing game. This would leave little volume for the starting tight end, let alone the third-string rookie.
Fantasy football players in standard-size leagues shouldn’t even consider drafting Ferguson this season in redraft leagues. The only way the rookie will have any fantasy value in 2025 is as a spot streamer if he can beat out Higbee and Parkinson for the starting role.
Terrance Ferguson Dynasty Outlook
However, Ferguson landed in McVay’s fantasy football-friendly offense. This makes him one of my favorite third-round picks in dynasty rookie drafts. While he will struggle to see the ball as a rookie, the former Oregon tight end should be a popular breakout candidate next year.
The Rams will move on from Higbee and Parkinson after the upcoming season, opening the starting role for Ferguson. Furthermore, Adams signed a two-year deal with Los Angeles earlier this offseason. He could get cut after one season with the team. At the very least, the future Hall of Famer likely won’t be back in 2027.
While it might take a year or two for Ferguson to get on the field, the talented tight end could be a go-to target and the second man in a McVay fantasy-friendly offense early in his career. Ultimately, this makes Ferguson’s fantasy football outlook for 2025 fairly weak. However, his long-term dynasty fantasy football outlook is intriguing.
