The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter with the 2nd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Fantasy players loved that the Jaguars gave up so much future draft capital to select the star athlete. Hunter has the skill set to be an elite all-around NFL player, making an impact on both sides of the ball. Continue reading to learn all about the Travis Hunter fantasy football outlook for 2025 and beyond.

Travis Hunter Fantasy Football Outlook 2025

Can Travis Hunter break out in 2025 fantasy football? Read below to find out his fantasy football outlook for both redraft and dynasty leagues.

Travis Hunter Strengths

Hunter’s fantasy football appeal comes from his talent and superstar ability. He was consistently the top option in the Colorado passing game, totaling 1,259 receiving yards, 98 receptions, and 15 touchdowns. Most impressively, he did all of that while playing full-time on the defensive side of the ball. Additionally, he recorded 4 interceptions and 36 tackles during his 2024 campaign. Overall, his ability to play both sides of the ball shows he is one of the most explosive players we have seen in a long time.

Furthermore, the Jaguars already have one of the best young wide receivers in the league in Brian Thomas Jr. Thomas Jr.’s presence will open up the field for Hunter in the short and intermediate game. Hunter was used effectively in the short passing game in college, so he should fit into the Jaguars’ offense seamlessly.

Travis Hunter Weaknesses

The biggest weakness for Travis Hunter is one of his biggest strengths as a football player. His ability to play both sides of the ball could limit his fantasy football upside. If Hunter is only playing 50 to 60 percent of snaps on offense, that means fewer chances for him to score fantasy points.

On the bright side, the Jaguars have said that Hunter is an offensive player first. While that news caused fantasy football managers to let out a big sigh of relief, Hunter has also said he will be playing both sides of the football. Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be ideal for fantasy football purposes.

Travis Hunter Fantasy Football Outlook in 2025

Thankfully, no one has their redraft league drafts in May. Therefore, fantasy players have time to see how the Jacksonville Jaguars decide to use Hunter on both sides of the ball. Hopefully, the Jaguars will use him on offense and sparingly on defense. That would give Hunter the best opportunity to become a weekly starting option for fantasy players this year.

Furthermore, the former Colorado star could range from a flex option playing half the snaps to a fantasy football superstar with top-12 potential every week. A Trevor Lawrence breakout season with Liam Coen could also make a solid rookie campaign inevitable. Either way, Hunter’s big-play ability will make him a player that needs to be in lineups on a weekly basis, no matter his snap share.

Travis Hunter Dynasty Outlook

Ultimately, Hunter should be a top-three pick in all dynasty rookie drafts. His falling any further would be a steal due to his high potential. Hunter has all the makings of a superstar wide receiver in the NFL. Moving forward, the only question mark is how much he will play on the defensive side of the ball. Hunter should be drafted as a player who is already a potential top-12 wide receiver. More importantly, he has the potential to be a true cornerstone for any dynasty fantasy football squad.
