TreVeyon Henderson Fantasy Football Outlook: RB Sleeper?
With the 38th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots made headlines by selecting Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson. This move has fantasy football managers buzzing. The talented young RB is coming off a national championship season at Ohio State. Today, we’ll break down his fantasy football outlook for 2025 and beyond.
TreVeyon Henderson Fantasy Football Outlook 2025
The Patriots have been looking to give their second-year quarterback more weapons, and Henderson could be exactly that for their offense. Read below to find out his fantasy football outlook for 2025 and beyond.
TreVeyon Henderson Strengths
Henderson’s fantasy football appeal comes from his ability to make defenders miss, his consistency, and his ability to maintain his balance after contact. During his 2024 season at Ohio State, he racked up 1,010 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, while adding 281 receiving yards and 26 receptions. His ability to break runs after contact stood out on film and in the analytics. Henderson’s 4.43 yards after contact per attempt ranked him in the top 10 percentile among running backs. That led to him having 21 runs of 15 or more yards, tying him for 15th overall in college football.
First-year head coach Mike Vrabel brings a run-first mentality from his days in Tennessee coaching the Titans. While Henderson is no Derrick Henry, his 91.8 PFF rushing grade ranked him among the top running backs in his class. Additionally, Henderson provides an option in the passing game that Vrabel never had in Tennessee. He was targeted 32 times during the 2024 season and dropped only one pass. His sure hands will be a welcome sight in an offense that desperately needs playmakers.
TreVeyon Henderson Weaknesses
Despite his upside, Henderson’s fantasy outlook comes with some risks. Rhamondre Stevenson signed a four-year contract with the Patriots just last year. While this move was made by the previous coaching staff, the team is still committed to his contract for multiple years. Stevenson is no slouch in the running and passing game, allowing the Patriots to potentially use more of a committee approach.
Furthermore, Henderson notably played in a committee during his final year of college with Quinshon Judkins. There is a possibility that Vrabel saw that split and may decide to implement it at the NFL level. If that is the case, Henderson’s upside will be severely limited. Vrabel has never been known for teams with explosive, high-scoring offenses, so in a committee backfield, the scoring chances could be limited.
TreVeyon Henderson Fantasy Football Outlook in 2025
For 2025 fantasy football leagues, Henderson projects as a mid-round draft pick, alongside other rookies like Judkins, RJ Harvey, and Omarion Hampton. Managers should closely monitor his integration into Vrabel’s offense during training camp. It will be important to keep an eye on the running back depth chart between him and Stevenson. However, it would not be surprising to see Stevenson as the first running back on the field come September.
Ultimately, there is no doubt Henderson has the talent to be a legitimate starter in this league. However, in a backfield with another proven NFL commodity, he will need to prove without a doubt that he is the better option. Additionally, he’ll need to prove himself as a pass-catcher to take some work away from Stevenson.
TreVeyon Henderson Dynasty Outlook
In dynasty league formats, Henderson’s explosive potential makes him a top-tier rookie running back pick. He has a fantastic opportunity to become the future of the Patriots’ backfield. A bet on a young, talented running back in a Vrabel system is a bet dynasty owners should be willing to make. Overall, while the price tag will be expensive, Henderson has the potential to be an RB1 for years to come.
