Tyler Warren Fantasy Football Outlook: Breakout TE Loading

It seems as though Tyler Warren was being mocked to the Indianapolis Colts for months before the 2025 NFL Draft. Additionally, it was a bit surprising to see Colston Loveland as the first tight end to be drafted, 10th overall by the Chicago Bears. This all but guaranteed the former Nittany Lion standout to be drafted 14th overall by the Indianapolis Colts. Today, we break down the fantasy football outlook for Tyler Warren in 2025 and beyond.

Tyler Warren Fantasy Football Outlook

Will Warren have a Brock Bowers or Sam LaPorta type of rookie season? Or will the quarterback play in Indianapolis limit his upside? Continue reading as we break down the fantasy football impact of rookie TE Tyler Warren with the Indianapolis Colts.

Tyler Warren Strengths

Warren is a multi-tool athlete who has the ability to line up almost anywhere on the offense and produce. He can catch passes out of the backfield, is a reliable blocker, and did it all out of the wildcat formation for Penn State. Additionally, he has such versatility in his alignment on the field that he can pose huge mismatches depending on where he lines up. Even head coach Shane Steichen referred to Warren as “A guy who can do it all”.

In 2024, Warren made history for Penn State. Notably, he became the single-season record holder with 104 receptions and the only receiver in the school’s history to post 100+ receptions. The 104 receptions amounted to 1,233 yards and 8 touchdowns. Furthermore, he also added 218 rushing yards with 4 touchdowns to go along with three completed passes for one score.

Tyler Warren Weaknesses

Despite the positives, there are certainly some challenges for Warren. The biggest challenge for Warren in 2025 is the anemic Colts offense, which begins with its quarterback play. Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether incumbent Anthony Richardson or offseason free agent signing Daniel Jones will be the starting quarterback this season.

Richardson struggled mightily last year and averaged just 11.5 completions per game. Conversely, over the past two seasons, Jones has thrown 10 touchdowns to go along with 13 interceptions and averaged less than 6 yards per attempt. Regardless of who wins the starting quarterback job, neither presents a strong case for Warren to be successful in fantasy football for 2025.

Tyler Warren Fantasy Football Outlook in 2025

Overall, Warren is a much better “real life” football fit for the Colts than a fantasy football one. There were better landing spots for Warren. Not only does Warren have to deal with bad quarterback play, but there are also many other offensive weapons on the Colts’ offense. This could severely limit his targets and ceiling with Michael Pittman, Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, and Adonai Mitchell.

Warren is currently the TE11 in redraft leagues. Personally, there are many tight ends below him, such as Evan Engram, Dalton Kincaid, and Travis Kelce, that I would prefer to draft. All in all, he makes more sense as a TE2 for 2025. You might keep an eye on him on the waiver wire or use some FAAB on him, depending on the depth of your leagues. There simply isn’t enough volume or efficiency in the Colts’ passing attack to support Warren as an upper-echelon tight end.

Tyler Warren Dynasty Outlook

Last year, the Colts clearly needed a playmaker at the tight end position. In total, the Colts’ tight ends combined for just 39 receptions. Notably, Kyler Granson led the group with a measly 14 catches.

From a long-term perspective, Warren should be the answer at tight end for the Colts for many years to come. He has the offensive skillset and versatility to be a top-tier offensive tight end. The question is, will the Colts ever have a quarterback to unlock that talent? Despite the immediate production concerns, this should be a solid long-term play in dynasty fantasy football leagues. Don’t be afraid to use a high pick in your dynasty rookie draft this year.
