Best Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantasy Football 2024
At this point in the fantasy football season, every waiver wire pickup and start or sit decision is extremely important. One wrong move could cost you that final playoff spot. Something as small as the wrong Flex option can cost you a vital win that could sneak you into the playoffs. Whether you’re dealing with injuries or just looking to stream a tight end, we’ve got you covered.
This week, we have the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, and Washington Commanders on their bye week. Unfortunately, you may be looking to stream a quarterback this week with Lamar Jackson, CJ Stroud, Bo Nix, and Jayden Daniels on your bench. Continue reading to find out who the top waiver wire pickups are for Week 14 of the 2024 fantasy football season.
Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups – Quarterbacks
Aidan O’Connell, Las Vegas Raiders – 6% rostered on Sleeper
Notching his first multi-score game of the year, O’Connell nearly led the Raiders to an upset over the Chiefs. His 340 passing yards were led by Brock Bowers’ 140 receiving yards and a 58-yard touchdown strike to Tre Tucker.
O’Connell has a nice fantasy schedule coming up, starting with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay has allowed the third most passing yards (3325) in the league. From Week 7 through Week 10, they had surrendered 300.25 passing yards and 3.5 passing touchdowns per game.
Jameis Winston, Cleveland Browns – 9% rostered on ESPN
In one heck of a Monday Night shootout, Winston’s 497 passing yards was a new career-high aided by Jerry Jeudy’s career-high 235 receiving yards. With four passing scores, it was the second time in three weeks that Winston threw for at least 395 yards and multiple scores. Regardless of the matchup, the Browns are going to let Winston air it out, as he’s thrown at least 41 passes in four of five starts. For fantasy football purposes, it’s nice to see him back in the starting role.
Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups – Running Backs
Isaac Guerendo, San Francisco 49ers – 5% rostered on Sleeper
With both Chrisitan McCaffrey and Jordan Mason likely out for the rest of the regular season, Guerendo will get first dibs on backfield work. In each of his previous games where he had at least 10 touches, he managed 99 and 102 total yards. Additionally, Patrick Taylor will probably be moved up to the active roster just to put another active body out there.
With the Bears coming to town, the 49ers running backs will have a very nice matchup. Notably, opposing running backs have averaged 5.24 yards per carry in the last four games against Chicago.
With a positive matchup and a big workload incoming, Guerendo is the kind of player I’d blow my entire FAAB on to get a weekly starting running back at this point. Don’t be afraid to spend it all on Guerendo for your fantasy football playoff run. Don’t be the fantasy manager that leaves unspent FAAB out there.
Zach Charbonnet, Seattle Seahawks – 40% rostered on Yahoo
Charbonnet isn’t going to become a workhorse running back with Kenneth Walker ahead of him on the depth chart. Since Week 4, Walker has out-carried Charbonnet, 125 to 35. On the bright side, Charbonnet has scored six touchdowns this season and caught at least two passes for more than 18 receiving yards in 6 of 12 games played. No, it’s not a ton of fantasy production. However, with this last, grueling bye week, he might need to be a solid waiver wire option for your fantasy teams.
Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups – Wide Receivers
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Tennessee Titans – 20% rostered on ESPN
Westbrook-Ikhine’s touchdown rate is insane. He’s scored on eight of his 20 receptions (40%). It feels like most people are just waiting for the touchdowns to dry up. No one should be, as he’s been in over 90% of offensive snaps in five of his last six games and 100% in Week 13.
Furthermore, Westbrook-Ikhine is getting the snap and the targets and he should be on more fantasy squads. Don’t sleep on him anymore, pick him up off the waiver wire before your opponent does.
Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers – 32% rostered on Yahoo
This past week, Thielen eclipsed 8,000 career receiving yards and scored his 63rd career touchdown. Obviously, he’s been around for a bit and more experienced players tend to slow down by season’s end. We witnessed this from Thielen last season, as this past Sunday was his highest receiving total since Week 6 of 2023. However, having missed a number of games with an injured hamstring, Thielen looks fresh and has already been targeted 14 times in his two games back with 10 in Week 13. He should’ve had a second touchdown as well that was ruled incomplete. This 11th-year pass catcher still has some fuel left in his tank.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling, New Orleans Saints – 22% rostered on ESPN
With 232 receiving yards and four receiving scores in three games, Valdes-Scantling has been lighting it up for the few fantasy managers who have taken the chance on him. He’s a great option for teams that are looking for a potentially explosive output in any week. To make things even more appealing, he’ll face the Giants and their fifth-best D-PAC Score for fantasy wide receivers. Valdes-Scantling is a player you can add off the waiver wire and start this week.
Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups – Tight Ends
Noah Gray, Kansas City Chiefs – 18% rostered on Sleeper
Aside from the back-to-back multi-score games, Gray has garnered some viable fantasy numbers. He’s caught four balls in three straight games and surpassed 55 receiving yards twice. Additionally, he has been on the field for more than 55% of offensive snaps in the last eight games. He’s on the field, getting targets and making plays. Why wouldn’t you consider him for fantasy football?
Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints – 3% rostered on Yahoo
Taysom Hill suffered a nasty ACL injury in Week 13, ending his season prematurely. Next up in the tight end room is Johnson – who is no stranger to fantasy managers. In the 20 games when he’s seen 70% or more offensive snaps, he’s seen at least five targets 12 times. In eight of those 12 games, he has either scored or reached 40+ receiving yards.
It’s not the most appealing fantasy football situation. However, with six teams unavailable this week, it may be necessary to stream a tight end off the waiver wire.
Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups – DST
Arizona Cardinals – 19% rostered on ESPN
The Arizona defense has surrendered 10 or fewer points in three of their last four games. They’ve also registered 19 sacks in their last four games, including five sacks against the Seahawks in Week 12. The Cardinals’ defense has looked much improved as the season has gone on and they need to perform this week to stay in step with the division-leading Seahawks.
Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups – Kicker
Parker Romo – 12% rostered on Yahoo
With at least three made field goals in three of his four games played, including a 55-yard strike this past week, Romo has been an excellent fill-in for Will Reichard. However, the Vikings officially opened up the return window for Reichard, meaning he could return as soon as this week. They don’t need to rush him back, so Romo likely gets one more game in Minnesota. Reichard would be a worthy waiver wire pickup, as well, if he is activated.
