Today, we’ll be breaking down the best waiver wire pickups for Week 17 of the 2024 fantasy football season and your fantasy football championship.

This week’s waiver wire offers a variety of options. Today, we’ll break down the top Week 17 waiver wire pickups which will help you strengthen your roster for the finals of the fantasy football playoffs. Let’s get to it.

Best Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantasy Football 2024

At this point in the fantasy football season, every waiver wire pickup and start or sit decision is extremely important. One wrong move might cost you a fantasy football championship. Continue reading to find out who the top waiver wire pickups are for Week 17 of the 2024 fantasy football season.

Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups – Quarterbacks

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers – 5% rostered on ESPN

The sophomore signal caller had his best fantasy outing of the year in the Panthers’ upset win over the Cardinals. Young completed 65.4 percent of his passes with two passing scores and no interceptions. More satisfyingly, he ran for 68 yards and another score. In four of his last six games, Young has either run for 30 yards, scored a rushing touchdown or both.

A Week 17 showdown with division rival Tampa Bay could bring another positive fantasy day. When these teams previously met in Week 13, Young threw for 298 yards with a passing and a rushing touchdown. The Buccaneers have also given up 4021 passing yards this season, the fourth most in the league.

Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups – Running Backs

Gus Edwards, Los Angeles Chargers – 48% rostered on Yahoo

Edwards posted his highest yardage total of the season this past weekend with 71 yards and scored two touchdowns. The Chargers have also opened up the return window for J.K. Dobbins. However, it’s more likely that they won’t rush him back as they are almost a shoo-in for the playoffs.

Even if Dobbins returns, it could be in a split timeshare against the Patriots, who have allowed 130.4 rushing yards per game this year with five running back scores surrendered in the last three contests. There would be enough opportunity for both runners to have a nice fantasy football performance.

Michael Carter, Arizona Cardinals – 0% rostered everywhere

Carter made his 2024 debut in Week 16 with 18 rushing yards and five receptions for 30 yards. With James Conner making an early exit (knee), Carter saw 10 touches to DeeJay Dallas’ one catch. Until we get any new information about Conner or Trey Benson (ankle), it’s likely that Carter would get the bulk of carries for Arizona in Week 17.

Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups – Wide Receivers

Hollywood Brown, Kansas City Chiefs – 34% rostered on Sleeper

After a shoulder injury derailed his 2024 campaign, we finally got to see Brown in action for the Chiefs. He snagged five of eight targets for 45 yards. Only rookie Xavier Worthy saw more attention on the offense with seven catches for 65 yards.

As the Chiefs attempt to lock up the first overall seed in the AFC playoff picture, they’ll face off with the 12 best D-PAC Score for wide receivers: the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers have surrendered at least 100 receiving yards to three different players in the last two weeks and seven receiving touchdowns in their last three games.

Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants – 31% rostered on Yahoo

The sheer volume of targets makes Robinson an interesting waiver option each week. He has seen at least nine passes in each of the last three weeks and his 123 targets are the ninth most this season. The revolving door of quarterbacks hasn’t been all that helpful, but if he can wrangle a few more passes, he could seriously pay off for fantasy purposes.

Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 33% rostered on ESPN

With four touchdowns and 13.6 yards per reception in the last three games, McMillan has emerged as an everyday fantasy option. He’s also been on the field for more than 75% of the Buccaneers offensive snaps in three of the last four games.

The Week 17 showdown with Carolina ought to extend his touchdown streak. Notably, the Panthers have allowed the most receiving touchdowns (28) in the league with five coming from the last two games. They’ve also allowed more than 380 yards of total offense in four of their last five games.

Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups – Tight Ends

Chig Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans – 8% rostered on Sleeper

Okonkwo isn’t a name that many fantasy managers have looked to over the course of the season. However, he’s seen a huge increase in usage over the last two weeks with 21 targets and 17 receptions.

Furthermore, it also appears that Okonkwo is a late-season bloomer. Over his nearly three-year career in games from Week 12 on, he has averaged 11.4 yards per reception and 44.5 receiving yards per game. Another reception performance like the last two weeks could catapult your team to a title. It’s even more likely against the Jaguars and their seventh-best D-PAC Score against tight ends.

Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups – DSTs

Las Vegas Raiders – 4% rostered on ESPN

With 13 sacks in the last four weeks and six turnovers in the last three, Las Vegas has been producing for fantasy. This week they meet the Saints who were just blanked by Green Bay. The injuries have really stacked up for New Orleans and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of fight left in them. Unfortunately, it’s time to pick on the wounded.

Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups – Kickers

Will Reichard, Minnesota Vikings – 8% rostered on Yahoo

The sixth-round rookie has made all five of his field goal attempts in the last two weeks. Aside from the week he was hurt with a quad injury, he’s made all but one field goal attempt. Including all six kicks from 50 yards or beyond. Week 17 against the Packers looks like it could be a defensive struggle for both teams, leading to more field goal opportunities on both sides. You can trust him in your fantasy football championship.
