Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 7
In Week 7 of the fantasy football season, we see the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, and Philadelphia Eagles all on bye weeks. This means we must scour the waiver wire for injury and bye-week fillers.
Here are my top Fantasy Football Waiver Wire pickups for NFL Week 7.
Quarterbacks
Bailey Zappe, New England Patriots
ESPN Rostered- 0.8%
Yahoo Rostered- 2%
Right now, Bailey Zappe is doing his Tom Brady impression. The rookie fourth-rounder is filling in for the injured Patriot quarterback and is doing enough to have people thinking he can keep the job.
Zappe completed 24 of 34 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Browns. Zappe is becoming a great dynasty add, and startable in Superflex formats. The Patriots host the Bears next.
Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons
ESPN Rostered- 14.4%
Yahoo Rostered- 15%
Marcus Mariota provided an upset win over the San Fransisco 49ers. Not only did he do it through the air, but he is doing it on the ground as well. Mariota completed 13 of 14 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, adding six rushes for 50 yards, and a touchdown.
Mariota is becoming a great fill-in option in Superflex formats because of his legs. He was sharp Sunday and got Kyle Pitts his first touchdown. He travels to Cincinnati next.
Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts
ESPN Rostered- 28%
Yahoo Rostered- 12.5%
If you need a bye-week replacement, Matt Ryan seems to have turned his season around. Ryan completed 42 of 58 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns in their win Sunday against the Jaguars. Ryan has Alec Pierce and Michael Pittman who both had big games. Next up is a trip to Tennessee.
Running Backs
Deon Jackson, Indianapolis Colts
ESPN Rostered- 32.8%
Yahoo Rostered- 43%
If Jonathan Taylor is back, Deon Jackson goes back to being a backup running back. If Nyheim Hines is back as well, Jackson may not have the value you’re looking for. Jackson rushed 12 times for 42 yards and a touchdown and caught all ten of his targets for 79 yards.
Jackson has an incredible upside if Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines miss more time. He also presents an excellent stash option if you have bench space.
D’Onta Foreman, Carolina Panthers
ESPN Rostered- 3.1%
Yahoo Rostered- 5%
D’Onta Foreman is on here in the event Christian McCaffrey is traded. Foreman rushed five times for 19 yards on Sunday. If CMC is moved, expect Foreman to take a lead role, unless he is traded to the Rams in a Cam Akers and CMC deal. He may lead the backfield or split with Chuba Hubbard, but if you need a running back, this is a good flier to take.
Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers
ESPN Rostered- 3.9%
Yahoo Rostered- 4%
Just like D’Onta Foreman, Chuba Hubbard is on here in the event of a Christian McCaffrey trade. Hubbard seems to be behind D’Onta Foreman but would fight for the RB1 status. On Sunday he rushed twice for six yards and caught his only target for a yard.
Kenyan Drake, Baltimore Ravens
ESPN Rostered- 3.2%
Yahoo Rostered- 5%
With J.K. Dobbins experiencing knee tightness, Kenyan Drake had a huge game against the Giants. He rushed ten times for 119 yards and a touchdown and caught a reception for eight yards. Dobbins’ health is something to monitor. If he misses any time, Drake becomes a must roster.
Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons
ESPN Rostered- 37.7%
Yahoo Rostered- 2%
Tyler Allgeier continues to fight for the top running spot in Atlanta. He rushed 15 times for 51 yards. His ceiling seems to be limited with Cordarrelle Patterson eventually returning to play, but Allgeier is a nice stash in dynasty. Patterson is a free agent after next season but is also 31 years old. The rookie out of BYU was drafted in the fifth round by Atlanta and has a bright dynasty future.
Caleb Huntley, Atlanta Falcons
ESPN Rostered- 5.2%
Yahoo Rostered- 7%
Caleb Huntley split carries on Sunday with Tyler Allgeier. Huntley rushed 16 times for 59 yards. The 2021 undrafted rookie is playing his way into a timeshare until Cordarrelle Patterson returns.
Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams
ESPN Rostered- 2.1%
Yahoo Rostered- 8%
With Cam Akers all but gone, Kyren Williams figures to fill in behind Darrell Henderson Jr. The 5th-round rookie is coming off a high ankle sprain and should be activated in week 8, after their bye this week. This all goes to waste if the Rams trade for Christian McCaffrey, but Williams is a very good dynasty stash as well.
Wide Receivers
Corey Davis, New York Jets
ESPN Rostered- 27.4%
Yahoo Rostered- 39%
The New York Jets went into Lambeau Field and defeated the Green Bay Packers 27-10. What a win for them! This offseason we heard about Elijah Moore and how he is the top option, then we saw the breakout of Garrett Wilson.
Corey Davis has been flying under the radar and has been Zach Wilson’s go-to receiver since last season, and this season is no different. While the stat line isn’t great from Sunday (2 catches for 54 yards), he’s been Wilson’s go-to wide receiver.
Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions
ESPN Rostered- 22.4%
Yahoo Rostered- 32%
It’s not assured Jameson Williams is back this week, but he is approaching around the time he should be back. If the first-round rookie is available on your waiver wire, throw a claim in and stash him on your IR if you’re able to. He has all the talent to be a second-half breakout player.
Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts
ESPN Rostered- 25.3%
Yahoo Rostered- 39%
Every single week I put Alec Pierce on here. This has to be the final week right? The second-round rookie continues to put up numbers with Matt Ryan. He caught three of seven targets for 49 yards and his first career touchdown. Pierce is getting better every week and has become a reliable fantasy starter.
Tyquan Thornton, New England Patriots
ESPN Rostered- 0.6%
Yahoo Rostered- 2%
The second-round rookie who ran a 4.28 is showing his potential in New England. With several wide receivers inactive, or on snap counts, Thornton made an impact. He caught four of five passes for 37 yards and his first career touchdown. He also added three rushes for 16 yards and a touchdown. While playing time may not be much for him this season, he is an excellent dynasty add.
Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants
ESPN Rostered- 6.5%
Yahoo Rostered- 8%
The 2nd Round rookie for the Giants returned Sunday and caught three of four targets for 37 yards and a touchdown. With Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney missing time with injuries, Robinson has a chance to be the Giants’ top wideout.
Robbie Anderson, Arizona Cardinals
ESPN Rostered- 29%
Yahoo Rostered- 13%
Robby Anderson was just traded to the Arizona Cardinals, who just lost Marquise Brown for six weeks with an ankle injury. With DeAndre Hopkins returning, Anderson has the potential to be the WR2 or 3 in this offense and could put up some flex value. It is a wait-and-see approach though. In his final game with Carolina, he didn’t see any targets but has topped 100 yards once this season.
Tight Ends
Robert Tonyan, Green Bay Packers
ESPN Rostered- 27.6%
Yahoo Rostered- 42%
Robert Tonyan was Aaron Rodgers‘ top target in their loss against the Jets. Tonyan caught ten of 12 targets for 90 yards. With Allen Lazard and Romeo Doubs emerging as the top two wideouts, Tonyan had his best game yet and is in the starting conversation. It should be noted too, Randall Cobb left with an ankle injury and is set to miss several weeks.
Daniel Bellinger, New York Giants
ESPN Rostered- 2.5%
Yahoo Rostered- 3%
Daniel Bellinger was a popular sleeper tight-end pick this summer. Now as the season is moving, he is seeing more playing time, and increasing stats. Bellinger caught all five of his targets for 38 yards and a touchdown. Last week he rushed for a touchdown, and this Sunday against Baltimore, he caught his second touchdown of the season. Bellinger is a name to keep an eye on.
Greg Dulcich, Denver Broncos
ESPN Rostered- 0.4%
Yahoo Rostered- 2%
With Albert Okwuegbunam inactive on Monday night, Greg Dulcich got an opportunity to start. The 3rd Round rookie caught a 39-yard touchdown and is set to play the Jets next week who gave up ten catches to Robert Tonyan.
