Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 17

darrel-williams-chiefs-waiver-wire-fantasy-football

The final week of the fantasy football season is here. This will be my final waiver wire article for the season and I thank you for taking the time to read this or glance through it. I appreciate it!  If you are reading this hopefully you are playing for a championship! Or a meaningful game. Let’s get right into it with Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 17.

Quarterbacks

Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers

It’s Trey Lance time!  The rookie gets the start against the Texans Sunday. Lance has speed and can make plays with his feet as well. I would expect him to act as a low-end QB1/Superflex QB2 option this Sunday.

Davis Mills, Houston Texans

Davis Mills is quietly putting together a solid rookie season, so much so that I believe the Texans should make him the 2022 starter. Against the Chargers, he threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns.

Running Backs

Darrel Williams, Kansas City Chiefs

With Clyde Edwards-Helaire likely out next Sunday, Darrel Williams becomes a must-add. With CEH out this season, he was putting up double-digit fantasy points and needs to be rostered (if anything to block your opponent). He saw 11 carries for 55 yards and caught all three of his targets for 30 yards against the Steelers.

Dare Ogunbowale, Jacksonville Jaguars

With James Robinson done for the season, Dare Ogunbowale enters in. Against the Jets, he rushed 17 times for 57 yards and a touchdown, while also catching two of four targets for 15 yards. He gets the Patriots next but could fill in as a low-end flex if needed.

Rex Burkhead, Houston Texans

Well, this was an unexpected result. The Texans defeated the Chargers on Sunday in a high-scoring game. Rex Burkhead carried the ball 22 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns. With Davis Mills in at quarterback, the Texans seemed to be all over the field. These numbers are RB2/Flex level. A matchup against the 49ers is next.

Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles

With Miles Sanders injured and set to miss a game, and Jordan Howard also getting hurt, Boston Scott is in line for an increased role against Washington. He saw 12 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. If Sanders and Howard both miss Sunday, then Scott is in line for a big role.

Wide Receivers

Robby Anderson, Carolina Panthers

The Panthers don’t know who their quarterback is. Robby Anderson, however, saw ten targets on Sunday catching five for 58 yards. Of the last three games, Anderson has seen eight or more targets but gets a tough Saints defense next week.

Byron Pringle, Kansas City Chiefs

With Travis Kelce out on Sunday, and Tyreek Hill not being involved, Byron Pringle stepped up and caught six of seven targets for 75 yards and two touchdowns. If Kelce is back next week, Pringle’s role may decrease, but he’s someone to keep an eye on.

Isaiah McKenzie, Buffalo Bills

With Cole Beasley and Gabe Davis both out, Isaiah McKenzie took over as the WR2. He caught 11 of 12 targets for 125 yards and a touchdown. If Cole Beasley can’t clear for Sunday, McKenzie is lining up as a flex play versus Atlanta.

Braxton Berrios, New York Jets

Braxton Berrios was a sleeper start last week. On top of a kickoff for a touchdown, he caught five of six targets for 37 yards. Elijah Moore could return this Sunday, and possibly Jamison Crowder, but Berrios still gets his work in the offense and returns kicks as well.

Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers

Joshua Palmer had a nice game Sunday catching five of six targets for 43 yards and a touchdown. Mike Williams is out Sunday, and the status of Jalen Guyton is up in the air. Guyton would be a good pickup as well if he is active.

KJ Osborn, Minnesota Vikings

KJ Osborn has been on this article on and off all season. He makes his way on here for the final time this season. He caught five of six targets for 68 yards and a touchdown. Next week they play Green Bay where he should operate as a WR3 for fantasy.

Tight Ends

Gerald Everett

Gerald Everett is becoming a good fill-in at the tight end position. Against the Bears, he caught four of five targets for 68 yards and a touchdown. He gets the Lions this coming week and if you’re streaming or dealing with injuries, he’s a solid replacement.
