It’s time to be aggressive on that waiver wire if you’re in need. Whether you lost someone due to injuries or just need to move on from some players, these players can help you out. We saw injuries to Mac Jones and David Montgomery which will sends Khalil Herbert to the top of the waiver list after his performance on Sunday. Next week we also see the return of Zach Wilson for those in need of a Superflex quarterback. A lot of frustrating starts with top-tier players, but there’s always a plan B!

Quarterbacks

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
The 2021 number one overall pick is showing why he was picked at the top. He completed 28 of 39 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns in the Jaguars’ shocking blowout of the Chargers. Lawrence has been getting better each week, and now is in the QB1 status. In 1QB leagues, he is a must-add especially for those who roster Tom Brady or even Russell Wilson.
Zach Wilson, New York Jets
For anyone looking for a backup quarterback or needing to replace Mac Jones or have other quarterback issues, Wilson is a solid option. With Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore, Wilson becomes a low-end QB2. The second overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft offers upside through the air, and rushing as well.
Brian Hoyer, New England Patriots
Mac Jones may be missing several weeks with a high ankle sprain. Making Brian Hoyer the next name up. If you are in a deep league and need a replacement for Jones, Hoyer is just that. The veteran quarterback provides a decent fill-in until Jones is back.

Running Backs

Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears
I’ve been on the Herbert bandwagon all off-season, especially in dynasty leagues. David Montgomery left with ankle and knee injuries last week. The timeline is to be determined, but Herbert took off on Sunday. He carried the ball 20 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns. He caught both of his targets for 12 yards. With Montgomery’s injury not for sure being long-term, I would still spend a large portion of my FAAB here, or use my top claim. Herbert has league-winning upside. Keep in mind, Montgomery is in the last year of his deal in Chicago. Herbert is the potential running back of the future here in Chicago.
Jamaal Williams, Detroit Lions
D’Andre Swift was a high pick in all fantasy drafts. With the nagging injury history continuing into this season, Jamaal Williams is looking like a solid flex play or better. He rushed 20 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns while Swift was active. He caught both of his targets for 20 yards. With the news of Swift needing to miss time, Williams is on top of all waiver priorities now with Herbert.
Sony Michel, Los Angeles Chargers
If you roster Austin Ekeler, you need to pick up Sony Michel. He rushed five times for 22 yards, adding one reception for nine yards, but the point here is Michel is the main backup in LA. Adding him as an insurance pickup is a must. We see Williams picking up big numbers with Swift limited. Michel would be a top waiver pickup if Ekeler misses any time.
Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers
Continuing the trend of waiver wire backup running backs, Jaylen Warren showed potential on Thursday night. He rushed four times for 30 yards and caught a reception for three yards. If Najee Harris’s injury were to be re-aggravated, or miss time, Warren becomes a top pickup.
Justice Hill, Baltimore Ravens
Justice Hill is looking like the primary backup to JK Dobbins, who returned this Sunday. Hill rushed six times for 60 yards behind Dobbins. Dobbins only saw seven carries in his first game back from his knee injury and looks like he will be eased back into action.

Wide Receivers

Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers
Does Aaron Rodgers finally trust a wide receiver? It looks like the rookie Romeo Doubs just might be that player. He caught all eight of his targets for 73 yards and a touchdown in their victory against Tampa Bay. If Doubs truly establishes himself as the top option in Green Bay, he needs to be rostered everywhere.
Isaiah McKenzie, Buffalo Bills
Isaiah McKenzie was a popular breakout name this summer along with Gabe Davis, but McKenzie was the breakout player this week. He tied Stefon Diggs with receptions. He caught seven of nine targets for 76 yards and a touchdown. In this offense led by Josh Allen, I want any receiver I can roster just because anyone can have a huge game at any time, especially given Josh Allen threw 63 times on Sunday.
Mack Hollins, Las Vegas Raiders
With Hunter Renfrow out on Sunday, Mack Hollins filled his role and played a fantastic game. He caught 8/10 targets for 158 yards and a touchdown. In Week 2, he saw eight targets. Consistency is a question here with Renfrow coming back, but Hollins showed with extra playing time, he can produce.
DeVante Parker, New England Patriots
With Jakobi Meyers missing Sunday, DeVante Parker took an expanded role. He caught 5/10 targets for 156 yards. With Meyers coming back, and the recent injury to Jones, Parker’s consistency becomes a question, but Parker showed he is still capable of putting up good stat lines.
Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts
Rookie Alec Pierce missed last week with a concussion but returned this week against the Chiefs. The rookie caught three of five targets for 61 yards. While the stat line isn’t overly impressive fantasy-wise, Pierce is establishing himself as the WR2 in this offense and should be an add in deeper leagues.
Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars
Lawrence has been playing great for the Jaguars and finally looks to be really starting to live up to the hype. Last week against the Chargers, Zay Jones caught 10/11 targets for 85 yards and a touchdown. In Week 1 he had nine targets, and now 11. With the Jaguars’ offense looking legitimate, Jones is becoming an interesting flier in deeper leagues.
Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers
With Keenan Allen still out, Joshua Palmer continued his expanded role. He caught six of nine targets for 99 yards. He saw eight targets last week, and nine this week. With Keenan Allen back soon, the volume should dip, but he’s a name to monitor if Allen’s injury history reaggravates again.

Tight End

Tyler Conklin, New York Jets
Tyler Conklin has quietly been putting up great tight end numbers. On Sunday, he caught all eight of his targets for 84 yards.  All of this is while CJ Uzomah was active. He’s seen 24 targets in the first three weeks. With Zach Wilson coming back, it becomes a question mark as to how this will keep up, but Wilson was a big fan of Conklin in Training Camp.
