Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 6
The bye weeks are officially here. It’s time to find those bye-week replacements and hit up the waiver wire. Here are the top targets at each position that you need to target on the waiver wire this week in your fantasy football leagues.
Quarterbacks
Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks
Geno Smith has been a great story this season, and it keeps getting better. He was 16 of 25 for 268 yards and three touchdowns last week and has just been on fire this year. With the exception of Week 2, Smith has been fantastic. Smith is a startable QB1 in your traditional 1QB leagues.
PJ Walker, Carolina Panthers
PJ Walker is an add-only in Superflex leagues or in your deeper dynasty leagues. With Baker Mayfield out for a couple of weeks, Walker gets a chance to start. Walker has an opportunity to run away with the job for this season.
Jimmy Garoppolo, San Fransisco 49ers
Jimmy Garoppolo is playing good football right now. He went 18 of 30 for 253 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday. Jimmy G is a solid start now in Superflex formats and is getting better each week.
Running Backs
Kenneth Walker, Seattle Seahawks
Let me open by saying I do not expect Kenneth Walker to be available in any league. If you have a manager that impatiently dropped him, this is the top waiver add/100% FAAB-worthy pickup. Rashaad Penny is done for the season with a broken leg. Last week, the rookie rushed eight times for 88 yards and a touchdown. If he is on the waiver wire, this is the type of league-winning upside you can find in a running back like Walker. Don’t hesitate to go all in.
Eno Benjamin, Arizona Cardinals
James Conner and Darrel Williams both left Sunday with injuries. Eno Benjamin filled in by rushing eight times for 25 yards and a touchdown. He also added three catches for 28 yards. If either, or both, of Conner or Williams, misses a game, Benjamin is a nice bye-week fill-in and someone worth keeping an eye on the waiver wire for.
Brian Robinson, Washington Commanders
Another player who shouldn’t be on waivers, but in the event he is, Brian Robinson should be rostered all over. In the summer he was projected to start over Antonio Gibson, and now he’s back and Washington needs a spark. He rushed nine times for 22 yards, but he was on a pitch count.
Deon Jackson, Indianapolis Colts
With the longer rest, Jonathan Taylor is expected to play next week. Nyheim Hines left the Colts game with a concussion, prompting Deon Jackson to handle the full game work. He rushed 13 times for 62 yards and caught all four of his targets for 29 yards. He is a pure backup add in the event Taylor misses any more time.
Mike Boone, Denver Broncos
While Melvin Gordon was presumed the starting running back, Mike Boone looked like he could make an impact. He rushed seven times for 38 yards and caught all three receptions for 47 yards. Boone makes for an intriguing add who could be a solid flex play during these bye weeks depending on if he sees more playing time.
Joshua Kelley, Los Angeles Chargers
Sony Michel was once considered the main backup to Austin Ekeler, but now it seems Joshua Kelley has taken that role. On Sunday he rushed ten times for 49 yards and a touchdown. He also caught both of his receptions for 33 yards.
Wide Receivers
George Pickens, Pittsburgh Steelers
George Pickens should not be available in your league. If he is, then he is the top add up there with Walker. Pickens caught six of eight targets for 83 yards and has seen back-to-back eight-target games with Kenny Pickett under center. Pickens is a must-add.
Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts
Alec Pierce is someone who I will post here every week until his ownership gets up. On Thursday, he caught eight of nine targets for 81 yards. Pierce is getting better each week, and more involved in the offense. He is a great flex play coming into a Week 6 matchup with the Jaguars.
Rondale Moore, Arizona Cardinals
Rondale Moore in his second game of the season caught seven of eight targets for 68 yards. He also saw two rushing attempts. Moore is a great pickup and will improve as the weeks go on. he was a popular breakout pick last season and is looking to take off against Seattle next week.
Marvin Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars
Marvin Jones caught seven of 11 targets for 104 yards on Sunday. Jones has been inconsistent, but in deeper leagues, Jones gives a decent low-end Flex play. It’s risky, but seeing double-digit targets is a very promising thing.
Darius Slayton, New York Giants
The Giants need a WR1, and it seems to be changing every week. Against the Packers, Darius Slayton caught six of seven targets for 79 yards. While he had a big role, once the Giants get healthier he may take a step back, but for now, while the Giants’ wide receiver room is nursing injuries, Slayton makes for an intriguing flier.
Nico Collins, Houston Texans
Another week, another waiver wire article with Nico Collins in it. He caught four of six targets for 65 yards. The six targets were his second-highest of the season. While the Texans have a bye coming up, Collins should make it through waivers unclaimed. He is a great addition for Week 7 against the Raiders.
Khalil Shakir, Buffalo Bills
Khalil Shakir saw extra playing time with Isaiah McKenzie out with a concussion. Shakir caught three of five targets for 75 yards and a touchdown. While his role may reduce, Shakir is someone to keep an eye on in deeper leagues, and dynasty, if available.
Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers
Nobody knows who the real WR1 in Green Bay is going to be. Romeo Doubs fell on his face this week after looking like potentially the WR1 in recent weeks. Randall Cobb though saw a huge target share in London. He caught seven of 13 targets for 99 yards against the Giants but gets a Jets team next week that has been stingy against opposing receivers. It’s worth adding the Packer wideouts until a WR1 is figured out.
Tight Ends
Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints
What is Taysom Hill? He’s a running back/Quarterback/tight end. Hill rushed nine times for 112 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a 22-yard touchdown throw. Hill is an excellent addition and start at the tight end position since he does it all. Hill is one of the top adds this week.
Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars
Evan Engram caught six passes out of ten targets for 69 yards. Engram saw his biggest target share of the season. He has been inconsistent this season, but in deeper leagues is worth an add to see if he can keep up the target share.
