Week 11 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Quarterbacks

START – Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Prior to Week 10, Herbert had been averaging 33 passing attempts per game since his bye week. He had also thrown for at least 279 passing yards in three straight games before an early lead allowed the Chargers to hold back on the pass against Tennessee.

This week, Herbert will meet a Bengals defense that just gave up 290 yards and four touchdowns through the air. A juicy matchup and a higher emphasis on the pass makes Herbert a high-quality option at quarterback for fantasy football in Week 11.

START – Bo Nix, Denver Broncos

Nix has transitioned pretty well to the pro level. He’s thrown just two interceptions and completed 64.8 percent of his passes in his last eight games. He does plenty of work with his legs, having surpassed 60 rushing yards or scored a rushing touchdown in four of his last six contests.

Another juicy matchup for the young slinger comes in the form of the Falcons. They have the third-best D-PAC Score for fantasy quarterbacks and are allowing a league-leading 70.4 percent catch rate. They’ve also surrendered multiple passing scores in six consecutive weeks, totaling 16 in that span. There’s no reason to get off the Nix hype train yet. Start em.

SIT – Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons

At first glance, it looks like Cousins is having a nice season with 2634 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. Looks can be deceiving and in this case, they are. Cousins has only thrown for more than two touchdowns in the three games against Dallas and Tampa Bay. Take those games away and he is averaging 232.4 passing yards and 0.9 passing touchdowns in those seven games. Add to that a faceoff with the stout Denver defense and you have a recipe for fantasy disappointment.

Week 11 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Running Backs

START – Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs just designated Isiah Pacheco to return. While he won’t see any action on the field for a few weeks, the Chiefs are going to continue to put a heavy workload on Hunt. He’s had more than 20 touches in five straight games, surpassing 100 total yards in each of the last two. Simply put, they’re going to run him into the ground until the wheels fall off. The next two matchups are beautiful for running backs so Hunt managers will get paid.

START – Alexander Mattison, Las Vegas Raiders

Before the Week 9 loss to Cincinnati, Mattison had seen at least 18 opportunities in four straight games. He even caught five passes in two of the three games prior to Week 9. Coming off of the bye week, he’ll face the Dolphins who are sporting the second-best D-PAC Score for fantasy running backs. Opposing running backs have averaged 4.6 yards per carry in the last two weeks against the Dolphins. A fresh Mattison is a guy you should put in your lineups this week.

SIT – Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers

After three straight games with more than 100 rushing yards, Harris returned from the bye week. He took 21 carries for 53 yards while a healthier Jaylen Warren saw a significant and more effective role out of the backfield. Now, Harris is nursing an ankle injury and the Steelers get to face Baltimore – the team with the worst D-PAC Score against opposing running backs. It’s not easy benching good players, but sometimes it has to be done. Sit em.

Week 11 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Wide Receivers

START – Marquez Valdes-Scantling, New Orleans Saints

It’s not often, at this point in the fantasy season, that you can pick up and confidently start a player. With Derek Carr back, Valdes-Scantling takes on the role vacated by Rashid Shaheed. Before Shaheed fell to a season-ending injury, he was averaging 17.8 yards per catch and exceeded 80 receiving yards three times. Valdes-Scantling is a very similar type of athlete with elite deep-threat tendencies. In Week 11, he’ll face the best matchup for wide receivers based on our D-PAC Score and you want him in your lineup.

START – DeMario Douglas, New England Patriots

Consistency isn’t a word that’s been associated with Douglas this season. However, he has shown some signs of being really good with Drake Maye at the helm. In his four games with nine targets, he’s caught at least six passes in each game and accumulated 59 or more receiving yards in three of them. Couple that with a Rams defense that has allowed 16.4 yards per catch to wide receivers and you’ve got a player who can pay off for fantasy this week.

SIT – Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts

Let’s face it, Joe Flacco doesn’t look like the same player he was at the end of 2023. Pittman had one catch in each of his last two games and missed Week 10 entirely. Regardless of quarterback, it doesn’t seem like there is any sign of hope for the Colts passing game. He’s a bench player until we see things turn around. That is, if they ever do this year.

SIT – Diontae Johnson, Baltimore Ravens

Honestly, I wish Johnson had stayed with Carolina. I think some part of him might wish that too. Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews are getting consistent targets in the passing game while the rest of the pass catchers are fighting over scraps. Too many players without enough targets to go around give me no confidence in Johnson. If we see him included more, we can re-evaluate at that time.

Week 11 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Tight Ends

START – Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

The pool of viable tight ends feels a bit murky in Week 11. Freiermuth caught his first touchdown pass from Russell Wilson last week and his third this season. The numbers have dipped since Wilson took over, but he still gets lots of playing time with higher than 70 percent of the offensive snaps in six of nine games. If he scores a touchdown, he’s money, and he could do that against the Ravens and their second-best D-PAC Score for fantasy tight ends.

SIT – Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott is looking to be officially done for the season. With him, Ferguson’s fantasy value may be gone too. The Cowboys quarterbacks managed just 66 passing yards in Week 10, of which Ferguson led the way with 24. In a disaster of a season and no competent passer, the value of all the Dallas playmakers is in the toilet.
