The fantasy football playoffs are just around the corner as we enter Week 12 of the 2024 NFL season. Today, we’re bringing you our Week 12 Start Em Sit Em fantasy football picks. These picks will help you determine who to start in Week 12 and hopefully, make a deep playoff run.
In case you missed it, we recently dropped our weekly waiver wire pickups. If you’re not sure who to stream at the quarterback or tight end position, be sure to check that one out. Continue reading for our top picks in our Week 12 start ’em sit ’em column.
Week 12 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em For Fantasy Football 2024
Week 12 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Quarterbacks
START – Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
This will be Tagovailoa’s first meeting with the Patriots this season after missing the prior matchup due to injury. New England’s numbers against the pass are skewed due to them not being able to keep up in games. They’ve been much more efficient recently and that should keep Miami using the pass to move the ball. In Tagovailoa’s previous 2023 start against them, he threw for 324 yards and three scores.
I’m confident that we’ll see a nice fantasy day from the Dolphins passing attack this week. Even an above-average performance could be a week-winning day with six teams on bye.
SIT – C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
If you’ve been rolling with Stroud all season, you know the pain he’s caused in fantasy. In four-point touchdown scoring, he hasn’t surpassed 20 fantasy points since Week 4. Even in a great matchup against Dallas, he was relegated to ‘field general’ with the success of the ground game.
This week, Stroud faces a Titans defense that held Amon-Ra St. Brown to two catches for seven yards in Week 10. Last week, if you take away his 31-yard reception, Justin Jefferson had just five catches for 50 yards. Clearly, Tennessee has a sneaky good defense that can hold even the best passing attacks in check. This may be a tough one considering all of the bye weeks, but you might look elsewhere and sit Stroud this week.
Week 12 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Running Backs
START – Austin Ekeler, Washington Commanders
With the return of Brian Robinson last week, we knew the number of carries for Ekeler would go down. However, Ekeler is one of the league’s best pass-catching running backs and he proved it with eight catches for 89 yards.
In Week 12, they’ll face a Dallas defense that has been as effective as a butterfly in a tornado. They are the sixth-best D-PAC Score matchup for running backs this season and have allowed 11.25 yards per reception to running backs in their last three games. Ekeler is a must-start this week.
START – Tyrone Tracy, New York Giants
Tracy is leading all rookies in rushing yards with 545 this season. Additionally, his 117 receiving yards are second among rookie running backs (Bucky Irving has 188). Impressively, he totaled more than 100 rushing/receiving yards in four of his last six games. Highlighted by 145 rushing yards against Pittsburgh in Week 8. It appears he has a stranglehold on the starting job for the Giants moving forward. This week, he’ll face Tampa Bay who gives up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs according to our D-PAC Score.
SIT – D’Andre Swift, Chicago Bears
After a slow start to 2024, Swift has racked up more than 70 rushing yards and a touchdown in five of his last seven games. In that span, he hasn’t faced a stalwart defense like the Vikings. Since Week 2, running backs not named Jahmyr Gibbs have averaged 3.3 yards per carry. That list of runners includes David Montgomery, Josh Jacobs, and Kyren Williams. Williams was the only running back in those games to surpass 51 rushing yards and he needed 23 carries to get to 97 yards. I don’t recommend starting Swift this week, but many fantasy teams won’t have a better option.
Week 12 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Wide Receivers
START – Jauan Jennings, San Francisco 49ers
Since returning from injury, Jennings has been targeted 11 times and racked up more than 90 receiving yards in the last two weeks. In his four games with at least six targets, Jennings has accumulated at least 88 receiving yards, scoring four times in those games. Without Brandon Aiyuk, he has been and will be, a vital part of San Francisco’s passing attack. All in all, there is little reason to keep him out of your lineups from here on out.
START – DeMario Douglas, New England Patriots
Douglas gets a nod here for bye week reasons, but also a deceptive Miami defense. Over the last four games, Miami has allowed 279.3 receiving yards and two passing touchdowns per game. Drake Maye has also been looking like the prominent quarterback many folks thought he would become after a season or so. Ultimately, you can certainly find less appealing options than Douglas this week.
START – Jerry Jeudy, Cleveland Browns
With the change in the offensive scheme, Cleveland’s passing game has awoken. Jeudy, in the last three contests, has been targeted at least eight times and surpassed 70 receiving yards. Last week, he tallied six receptions for 142 yards on 11 targets. Pittsburgh has a tough defense, but Jameis Winston has averaged 44.3 passing attempts in his three starts. The sheer passing volume should provide enough for more than one Cleveland pass catcher to give us a solid fantasy day.
SIT – Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks
Lockett saw less than five targets for the third straight week. Meanwhile, D.K. Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba have been getting the lion’s share of the targets. Given their recent production, it doesn’t seem like Lockett will be digging into the share much.
Furthermore, the matchup with Arizona in Week 12 doesn’t make things any better. In the last three weeks, wide receivers have averaged just 123.3 total receiving yards per game against them. Additionally, there have been no receiving touchdowns against the Cardinals during that time.
Week 12 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Tight Ends
START – Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins
In his last six games, Smith has eclipsed 45 receiving yards five times and twice managed more than 95 receiving yards. He has also caught at least five passes in four of those games. Fantasy managers should be riding his hot hands until, and if, the wheels fall off. Start ’em this week in your fantasy football leagues.
START – Will Dissly, Los Angeles Chargers
This is a tight end every fantasy manager should have on their radar. Dissly has averaged 6.6 targets, 4.8 receptions, and just over 10 yards per reception across his last five games. He’s been a highly targeted safety valve early in games.
Over the next four weeks, he’ll face three defenses: Baltimore, Tampa Bay, and Kansas City. All of which rank in the top six best matchups for tight ends per our D-PAC Score. In short, they give up a lot of fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Ultimately, Dissly is the kind of tight end you can hitch your wagon to for a run into fantasy playoffs.
SIT – Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers
For the first time in 2024, Kraft failed to catch a single pass in Week 11. The primary reason seems to be the re-emergence of Christian Watson, who has seen 17 targets in the last three games as opposed to Kraft’s 10.
Next up for Kraft and the Packers is a tough matchup with the 49ers. In their last four games, the only tight end to surpass 35 receiving yards against the 49ers was Noah Gray. Yeah, even Travis Kelce didn’t manage 20 receiving yards against them. Kraft wraps up this week’s start ’em sit’ em column. Good luck this week and as always, hit us up on social media with any lineup questions!
